“Great location, friendly owners!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

We stayed in the Riverview cabin and loved it. We met Cindy when we were sightseeing and pulled up to ask about her rates and availability. It only took a few minutes to decide to stay. She was $100 cheaper per night for a cabin than the Hampton Inn was for a double queen room! She let us stay one night and decide on night #2 the next morning, which most cabin renters don't do. Her husband has added so many funny signs at the river's edge, it had us laughing as we looked around. She has tubes and push poles to tube the Chattahoochie River and good advice about local points of interest. Cindy even made a quick hike up the hill to help me know how to drive up the steep driveway to this cabin. She's very accommodating and I'd recommend her cabins to anyone traveling to that area.

Room Tip: perfect for parents with up to 3 kids

My husband, daughter, and two grandaughters decided to go to Helen, GA for a quick getaway over Memorial day. We didn't make any reservations ahead, just going to play it 'by ear'. Wow!!! Did we get lucky!!! We called several hotels and were given 'no vacancy' messages or quoted exhorbitant prices. Finally, we were referred to Cindy Smith, and she rented us her last cabin even though she had to rush to ready it. We only wanted one night, which many rentals will not do on a holiday weekend, but Cindy said ok, and even extended our hours the next day which allowed us to take part in several activities. The prices are unbelievably reasonable, and the location of the cabins (ours was on the river) is one of the loveliest in Helen. She gave us several tips on getting around traffic and places to go which also enhanced our stay. We will return and would recommend Bear Creek Lodge and Cabins to anyone headed that way!!! Thank you, Cindy!!!

We stayed at the Treehouse for three nights, and we had an absolutely wonderful time! The cabin was in immaculate condition and had great facilities, and it was within walking distance of Helen, Georgia. Also, the management was very helpful and friendly.

Thank you, Tim & Cindy!!

I was apprehensive about renting a place for our family for Thanksgiving simply from info on the internet, but Bear Creek Lodge and Cabins turned out to be the best place in Helen we could have found. We had 17 people including children in the Lodge and River View Cabin which gave us plenty of space. The Lodge is roomy with 5 bedrooms and baths arranged so each has privacy and the living room and kitchen are great "common spaces." The River View Cabin is adorable and was fun going between the Lodge and Cabin. Parking was not a problem even though we had a number of vehicles with family coming from south Georgia, Atlanta area, North Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, and Kentucky.

Views from every direction on the property are beautiful. There was lots to keep everyone busy with the hot tubs, the outdoor firepit, grilling on the huge porch, exploring the creek and wooded areas around the Lodge and cabins. We all enjoyed spending time in Cindy and Tim's "private park" on the bank of the river. One of our grandsons learned to skip rocks across the river and spent time practicing with his pop and great-uncle. The children also loved the "primitive" croquet and golf courses and spent a lot of time making up their own games and shots.

Location of the property is great - very private but close enough for a pleasant walk to town. Our grandsons loved that the go-cart place was within very close walking distance. When we drove to the other end of town, we were able to take easy-to-navigate backstreets and stay out of the very heavy holiday traffic on the main road. Betty's Country Store was very convenient; just took a quick back street and came out right beside it. Also a fun place to visit even if we didn't need supplies.

Our family has mainly dealt with companies when renting properties for our trips, but Cindy was fantastic and made every step easy and convenient. She was helpful in every way, making suggestions and recommendations for whatever we needed, and working with us continually from my first contact with her until we left despite some last minute plan changes on our part. In fact, she helped even after we left. Our 3-year-old granddaughter lost her favorite sleeping bunny and had to go home without it. Cindy e-mailed me the day after we left to let us know she had found bunny and then she mailed it to my daughter with a sweet note letting our granddaughter know where bunny had been and how he had missed her. I don't think we would have gotten such attention from any company! Other family members met Tim and were just as impressed with him. It was especially nice having Cindy and Tim checking every day to be sure we were taken care of. We all left wishing we had a few more days to spend there and making plans to return.

Just came back from a weekend at Bear Creek Lodge. We stayed in the Riverview cabin. Owner Cindy was amazing. On Saturday we got lost trying to get back and nobody who lived in Helen seemed to be of help. We called Cindy, she answered right away, and we were back to our cabin in minutes. We will definitely go back there on our next trip to Helen. Thank you Cindy!!!! We will recommend your cabins to everyone we know.

Room Tip: Make sure you don't mind the hike if you want to go for a walk. If you are looking for solitude...

My partner and I stayed in the Cozy Cabin last August and had one of the best trip experiences ever. We were looking for a nice relaxed place to spend a few nights, nothing "fancy" (or ridiculously expensive as some of the McMansions that other places try to pass off as a cabin are), just a place to enjoy the view, read a book, drink some beers and decompress. BCLC served it up in abundance. Cozy is a small cabin that's kind of tucked away at the top of the hillside. The creek runs under the deck in front of the cabin providing a nice breeze and the perfect soundtrack to a good nights sleep and a great location for a bit of exploring. We didn't meet Cindy but Tim was a great guy, very personable and with a wonderful, whimsical sense of humor that was apparent in the decorations throughout and especially at the river area -- putt putt and bar area are awesome!
Our only complaint was the exterior lights from other cabins and sitting areas shined in our cabin at night. A few bulb shades would resolve that problem and it really is a very minor, and almost ridiculous, thing.
We loved this place and are planning on going back there soon.

My family stayed here from June 30th to July 3rd. We loved the cabin which sleeps 4 people and is across the street from the river. Tim and Cindy were sweet and charming couple and made us feel at home. This cabin was built in the 1920's so it is an old cabin exactly what I expect when I rent a cabin! The view from the porch was breath taking and my son lived in the little park across the street lol. We tubed for free from the property. It is located right in behind Betty's general store in town and you can walk into the little town if you like. We will be returning soon I hope :). My mother says that on our return trip we are taking a Tim and Cindy to dinner because she just adored miss Cindy.

THANK YOU so much for your kind words-we enjoyed your family as well, and appreciated the journal of events you left for us in the guestbook. Guests such as yourselves make all the hard work and love we put in the cabins very rewarding! Hopefully you can return soon, and your husband will be able to join you, and it would be fun to "break bread "with you all, as you are part of the group we call our family of friends at Bear Creek!
