Owner description: Quietly tucked away in the North Georgia mountains, sits a rare and special treasure. A botanical paradise fairly bursting with dogwoods, tulip magnolias, native azaleas, wild flowers, trillium, and of course, rhododendron. There are over 400 varieties of rhododendron - 3,000 plants in all. Welcome to the Hamilton Gardens, a truly enchanted spot, boasting the largest collection of rhododendron in the state of Georgia. Stroll tranquil pine bark trails as they wind through lush foliage. Drink in the stunning views of Lake Chatuge and breathtaking countryside, including the majestic rise of Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest peak.

Beautiful Azalea and Rhododendron gardens are on the lake adjacent to the North Georgia Mountain Fairground. Only about two hours from Atlanta. Short side trip from Highlands, Clayton, Lake Burton and Brasstown Bald. We were there before Mother's Day weekend and the rhododendrons were just beginning to bloom. Worth the visit.

“A "must-see" Spring Garden!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014

A beautiful and rare collection of Rhododendrums!
I visited this Garden many years ago when I first discovered the No. Ga Mtns.
Now, I lived in the area and I,not only, visit but have the honor to help care for it as a volunteer.
I am always truly amazed by it's beauty!

“Amazing -- give your support”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2014

After touring the trails, seeing the amazing rows of hybrid rhododendrons and azaleas, I learned that it was totally "manned" by volunteers!! How incredible! THEN I learned that it is only maintained by donations AND that the county does not even appreciate what they have in their hands for tourism - at least not in the way of supporting it with any financial contribution! Trust me, it was well worth my donation and those who were with me...and yours, too!!

I traveled about an hour to get there and was absolutely enthralled by the beauty I saw as a reward of volunteers who work and maintain the over 30 acres! The trails are easily graded for walking and for physically challenged, you get to ride in a "buggy" (golf cart) at half-hour intervals.

I plan to go back for the free sessions on creating containers on Saturdays at 11am and again in time for the Fall Festival! Amazing!! Koodos to all!!

“A Must See in the North Georgia Mountains”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2014

A beautiful stop and it's free! The rhododendrons and azaleas are magnificent and the trails are easy for all ages. You can picnic under cover or by the lake. The garden shop has some great deals and the staff is very helpful and enthusiastic. Say hello to Catherine who runs the garden shop and is a #1 volunteer. They also have RV sites for volunteers.
