I was surprised to see how old and run down my room seemed here since this particular location isn't really that old.

I had a 1BR suite room. The door was extremely hard to open, catching the carpet and dragging each time you opened/closed the door. The furniture in the living area seemed warn and in need of steam cleaning. The ceiling fan made a loud noise when in use. The bathtub was not squeaky clean, and even the plastic liner that you get to place in your ice bucket had a hair in it. It simply did not appear "clean", though at the same time I wouldn't say it was filthy or anything.

On top of it, the sound insulation is worse here than in many places, perhaps from poor construction? We could CLEARLY hear noises from the neighboring rooms, the bathroom above us (people in the shower talking, etc), and people simply walking through the hall past the room which sounded like they were actually in the room. In other words, poor construction and NOT a quiet atmosphere. My room overlooked a street where all day and evening groups of teens wonder back and forth, and a very rusty air conditioning unit was my view below the room.

$100 (approx) for a 1BR suite isn't an enormous amount of money, but I still expect better than this. There are only a couple of hotels in Hiram, so if you want better then stop in Douglasville or continue on to Atlanta 25 miles east.

Based on reviews of the two hotels available in Hiram, GA, we chose Country Inn & Suites for our 3-night stay in October (king room at AAA rate of $71). While we don’t think it warrants the rave reviews submitted by previous guests, the hotel did deliver what it promises: “a cozy stay at a comfortable price.” (Note to Hiram Chamber of Commerce – with some pricey housing developments popping up in the area, you might want to consider a third hotel that’s a rung or two up on the luxury scale.)

The hotel staff was welcoming and friendly. Shantay and Monica at the front desk greet everybody who passes through, and the entire staff appear to take pride in their work. The front lobby area is immaculate and inviting, with a fireplace, a couch, and a couple of easy chairs. Coffee and hot water (for tea) are available in the lobby at all times, supplemented by a late-afternoon/nighttime crockpot of soup, as well as a platter of cookies at the front desk.

Breakfast: The complimentary breakfast offers a generous selection of food: coffee, juices, yogurt, cereals (hot and cold), hard-boiled eggs, make-your-own waffles from cups of premeasured batter, sausage, scrambled egg patties (nicknamed “egg pucks” by my husband), country gravy in a crockpot, biscuits, bagels, bread, and pastries. Breakfast is served from 6-9:30 a.m. We arrived at 8:30 each morning, and on one morning found the sausage, egg pucks, and milk to be used up, with only two waffle batters remaining – no doubt due to the, um, hearty appetites of the healthy families already eating. None of these items was replenished by the time we left at 9:10 a.m. Not that we starved, there was still plenty of food! The complimentary newspaper in the dining room was missing two of the three mornings.

The rooms .are fairly large and have everything you need for an overnight or extended stay. We could hear no noise either from other rooms or from the outside. Our room was made up promptly each day and was clean, although the wall area behind the toilet could use a good wipedown to erase very obvious indications of previous guests’ bad aim. The toilet paper is airport grade, but there’s a Wal-Mart close by where I’d buy a couple of rolls of Charmin if I were to stay here again. Towels were fairly new and adequate (hubby managed to select the one threadbare towel for his first shower). Shampoo, lotion and mouthwash are provided, with additional items (such as shower caps) available by request at the front desk. The water pressure in our room, restricted even more by a flow meter, was pitiful, practically nonexistent, and the hot water temperature ranged from barely lukewarm (4 p.m. shower) to comfortable (10 p.m. shower), but not as hot as I’d like. Because the water pressure was so low, there was insufficient pressure to wash away any soap or cleaning residue from the tub, which was slippery and did not have non-slip stripping. The bed was comfortable, with the pillows small, thin, and smooshy (bring your own if you’re driving) and only three provided with the king-size bed.

The hotel has an indoor swimming pool and adjacent whirlpool spa, both of which looked inviting and were vacant every time we looked in. The hotel also has a laundry room, which looked to be a popular amenity.

(Bonus note – there is a nice little Mexican restaurant, Fiesta Brava, right across the parking lot, with a good selection of beers and great margaritas.)

A friend and I took seven children (ages 10-13) to Hiram, GA this past weekend for a regional roller skating championship tournament. We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites in Hiram, and could not have had a better experience! The hotel was beautiful and clean, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and dedicated. The rooms were well appointed and extremely comfortable. There were all sorts of things going on this weekend in Hiram (the skate tournament, a church group function, a large wedding) and the hotel was booked solid. But never once did I see an employee who looked frazzled or frustrated. Guests were gathered around the fireplace in the lobby until late at night... people sitting around in the rockers and chatting on the front porch area... it had an incredible feel of home away from home. I recommend this hotel to ANY traveler in this area.
