We were attending a marching band competition at E Jackson HS. I checked Trip Advisor the day before to find a restaurant for dinner. After reading the reviews, and not finding much close by, we decided to give The Redd House a try. Following others' advice, we arrived at 4:30 ... and just as reported, there was already a line formed outside. They opened at 5:00 and, when seated, our server was very friendly and gave us the run-down. There was a menu to order from also, but we were in the mood for the buffet. It was expansive! Ample salad bar with homemade dressings...fresh cooked veggies such as green beans, mac & cheese, potato casserole, corn on the cobb, baked beans, etc. Fried shrimp, fried catfish, baked/grilled fish, fried chicken tenders, shrimp & grits, shrimp fettucine alfredo, BBQ pork, and really good hushpuppies. Then the dessert bar with homemade strawberry shortcake, meringue puddings, etc. Everything seemed homemade and was delicious! Next time, though, I would go just after they open as there was no line, and no shortage of tables. But don't wait too late, as it did get full before we left. Overall, the food and service was very good.
