This is a historic hotel, and is very nice for a historic hotel. The rooms are quite basic but they do have nice bathroom/shower facilities. Being that we visited in July a few things made our trip less tolerable, mostly the heat and humidity. It was over 100 degrees and over 95% humidity. For folks who are not used to those conditions you may want to pick another time to visit. The staff were all exceptional: very polite and helpful. The location is fantastic and leaves you close to many beaches and they have private access to one of the beaches which came in handy. There are very nice shops for nicknacks and various "beach" type items just a short walk away.

We only live a short distance away on Amelia Island in FL, but we still keep returning to Jekyll Island....Now when we return instead of saying Welcome Back, they say Welcome Home.
Hotel and grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Hotel is rich in history and had been lovingly restored. My favorite feature is the Lobby Bar and Kenny (bartender).Love sitting at his bar, looking out throught the old 'wavy' glass windows, stained glass at the top, and watching the sun set over the intracoastal waterway. We've met some interesting folks there, some, more than once (we're not the only repeat offenders it seems!)
Or-maybe it's the Adirondack chairs under the big oak trees I like...or the huge porch overlooking the same waterway....This is hard.
Rooms are quite and spacious, beds are very comfortable. Pool is great in the summer, complete with pool bar and grill(good food) and restrooms right there. Lots of things to do nearby, something for everyone. The paved bike path is awesome.
The Grand Dining room is awesome, esp for breakfast. They also have a cafe with Starbucks so you can get your caffeine fix almost anytime of the day.
The service of the staff is the best, anywhere.

The club is made up of a collection of houses and apartments built at the beginning of the 20th century as winter residences for some of America's most wealthy and influential families. The clubhouse is at the center of the massive property.
We stayed in an apartment originally inhabited by Rockefeller while his 'winter bungalow' was being constructed a stone's throw away. The buildings have of course been modified from their original floor plans, but they remain spectacular museum pieces of an era in American history.
There is absolutely nothing to do...except slow down and relax. There is a shuttle to the beach side of the island (5 min). The club has a really nice pool and there is croquet on the lawn, but, you are in a museum the moment you drive on to the grounds. Walks and rocking chairs on antebellum porches...now that's the life.

The Jekyll Island Club is a true southern hotel. The Dining Room requires pants and shirts with collars (and jackets are requested) even in August when the heat is on. The service here is top notch. The employees have remained for years it seems. We just returned from our second family reunion here and we had the same bellman bring our bags up to our room and the woman who checked us in had "Employee of the Year 2002" on her name tag - 8 years ago! Kenny the bartender is known to everyone who stays here.
We went with our extended family (my parents, brothers, spouses, kids, etc.) It is so easy for everyone to just hang out and relax! The kids can ride bikes to the sweet shop and we don't have to worry (ages 9 - 14). All the food was very good, even if you don't eat in the dining room, although it is worth the effort to do one night while you are there.
The croquet lawn adds to the old southern charm of the hotel.

My husband and I visited Jekyll Island and our experience was very pleasant. The staff at the hotel are personable and accomodating. They value the customer and give awesome customer service. We stayed during the 4th of July celebration. The island was a buzz of excitement and at first we were concerned if we had chosen the right destination because we wanted to go somewhere that was a bit more laid back. After the 4th, the island got back to it's usual pace and it was great. Our first nite was in the original hotel rooms. These rooms are quaint but small and reminded me of something from the movies "Somewhere in Time". The next 3 nights we stayed in the Annex. which is adjacent to the original hotel but was built as an add on. Wonderful accomodations! Fireplace and a private glassed in patio, King size bed with a flat screen tv which also played cd's. The rooms are quiet but once out on the patio you could here the other families next door to us. The grounds are beautifully kept with friendly staff. Rooms are decorated in a victorian style indicative of the time frame at which it was built. Charming and romantic experience. We had breakfast in the hotels grand dinning room. The breakfast was adequate, a bit over priced but the service/staff made the experience worth doing again. So we did. There is a lovely courtyard that is peaceful and relaxing and I was grateful that the pool was on the opposite side of the grounds so you didn't have to deal with the loud noise of children splashing around. It was great! The pool area has a bar and you're given a card when you arrive so you can charge whatever you want to your room. Nice touch. The history of this location was what fascinated me and if you want an experience of the very rich of the early 1900's then this hotel is the right one.

We stay here every June and I love it everytime! We always stay in the green outer building and request it every year. The rooms are huge with big balconies. It's so peaceful here. We take our bikes and park them right out front. They have a really nice large pool. The turtle center is in front and is really neat to check out. The hotel is perfect for families, business, or romance. It is one of our favorite hotels we have ever stayed at.
