“Quiet, shady place at a reasonable price”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

Spent a couple of days camped in a tent during Memorial Day. Located about as far north as you can go on the island by motor vehicle. Checked in around 4:35 PM and the office was already closed. Had camp hosts showing sites after 4:30 and you had to register the next day between 9 and 10 in the morn. The office had really short hours during the day, 9 to 4:30 during the day except Friday and Saturday when the office closed at 7 in the evening. The shady, spacious site that greeted us was clearly marked off with posts. The clean baths, which were checked often during the day, had paper towels and soap along with convenient hooks by the showers and shelves by the sinks. My wife liked that. There were also RV sites available but even during the busy holiday it appeared that all the sites were not filled up. A community room with ac and tv plus laundromat was available at the bath house near our tent. Bicycle rental is available at the camp office which we did not use. A great place to camp if you want it simple, and Jekyll Island is gorgeous place to visit.

Jekyll Island is much improved. It is clean, safe, wild, and diverse. The campground is an excellent location to, within walking distance, visit Driftwood Beach, the fishing pier, the marine and wildlife estuary, and historical ruins of early inhabitants. It is under a canopy of beautiful trees, with the Marshes of Glynn on one side and a bird sanctuary on the other. Ask for a site on the marsh side to take advantage of the sunsets. Be sure to have lunch at Courtyard at Crane's, the former Crane (plumbing) family "cottage."

This campground is a really nice place to stay. Very reasonably priced to stay, accepting both tents and RVs and campers, this campground is clean and the staff is friendly. Bike rentals are available through them, the washers and dryers are in good repair, wifi and cable are provided along with full utility hook ups. Also, it's in a great place, being right across from the fishing pier and Clam Creek Picnic Area, which is also very pretty. Lots of squirrels!

We stayed there for 3 nights clean restrooms although the showers are on the small side. We ha a great site we were on I12 I think it was very quiet. My only problem with the place is the staff two of the girls are always on the computer but when you walk in they do help you but the heavy set girl on the end was awful she rather text all day then help the campers. Overall had a good time

This park campground is over-rated. The ONLY thing it has going for it is it's in the shade and close to other things to do. The price, $37 a nite for a motorhome, was high considering the site had electric and water only, and was on dirt with no pad or gravel. Plus, surprise! You have to pay $10 just to drive onto the Island, in addition to the camp fee. We walked around, saw no signs to footpaths to the beach. We did find some horse paths, so I guess if you want to trailer your horse in you can ride, but probably have to pay big for a stable stall. I'd pass this one by next time.

I like this camp ground a lot not like others. Its very shaded and in the summer time it don't get that hot cause of the trees. bring lots of bug spray though. Its very close the beach about a 2-5min drive. oh one more thing theres not a swimming pool at this one.

We spent two months and hated to leave. There were activities every day. The staff was very helpful and always friendly. The area has a wide variety of activities and attractions. It's the perfect place for "snow birds".
