Very interesting. Took you into two of the "cottages" that the millionaires of the late 1800's and early 1900's owned. Well worth the fee.

Area is well kept and gorgeous. Live oaks with Spanish moss hanging from them are one of nature's prettier sights. Didn't visit cottages or Jekyll Island Club this time, but have before and the tour is well done.

This area was originally founded by very wealthy people looking to escape cold winters. The houses were built to datisfy their needs.

There are really two things to do to make the most of the historic district: take the tour and bike through the district. The historic trolley tour is fabulous although it often only includes three of the many houses. They are in the process of refurbishing several others which I hope they will add to the tour as time goes on. But nothing can beat quietly biking by the houses under the hanging Spanish moss. It really goes feel like be transported to another time and place.

We stayed in the campground for 2 nights, and we biked to the historic district. So much history here. The bike trail around the island is the best, paved and level, and goes to all the attractions. We ate great food at the Historic Wharf( latitudes 31) and the food was great, and the band that played was very good.
