“Another fab lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2012

Another great lunch at the French Market. The ceasar salad with homemade dressing was yummy. Lauren made Aggie and I feel like special guests, our server was attentive and the atmosphere is awesome. Looking forward to my next visit.

“Doesn't deserve any rating other that TERRIBLE!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2012

We were so excited about sharing our 28th anniversary with our best friends at what we thought would be an excellent restaurant, French Market and we were SO WRONG! Thank goodness we had the best company and lots of laughs with our best friends or else the evening would have been a complete failure. I think the most disappointing part (there were so many so it was hard to choose just one) but the worst was the manager/owner and her lack of humility for her weak and incompetent employees and sub par food. She could have made customers for life even with all of the problems that occurred throughout the evening. We've celebrated all 28 years of our marriage living in Henry County and it is sad to say that the French Market is a disgrace to this wonderful place that we proudly call our home.

Mr & Mrs Ray,

Disgrace to Henry County? By taking the ultimate risk by revitalizing an abandoned landmark in Historic Locust Grove, creating something beautiful while helping revitalize downtown, Disgrace? By injecting thousands of tax dollars monthly into henry county, Disgrace? By creating 40 jobs in a fragile economy. Disgrace?

I'm sorry that warm french fries ruined your anniversary, even though the problem was fixed within 5 minutes (on a busy saturday night). I am sorry that you threatened my servers and my wife that if we didn't comp your entire table's meal you would give us a bad review even after we comped your wine and your appetizers. I'm sorry your night was so ruined that you stuck around for an additional hour after your check was settled enjoying our entertainment. What I'm most sorry about is that you tipped my server ZERO after treating her like a dog all night.

The French Market & Tavern isn't for everyone. We're not a chain, we're an independent mom & pop operation that makes each meal fresh to order. We're also humans, maybe that's not a bad approach in the future.

“Worth a repeat visit.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2012

Nice setting, friendly staff. Food pretty good, especially for our area. Value OK. Fried shrimp and crawfish were good - well seasoned, just the right amount of batter, and not greasy at all. Sides of red beans and rice and fried okra with them were quite good. Very large portions epecially for a lunch menu. One daughter had chicken salad croissant, which was again a generous portion. Only negative was that a couple of that us had gumbo, and it arrived cool. Also had a pretty strong rosemary sage flavor, which I don't use in my gumbo. But gumbo to Louisianians is like red sauce to Italians - no two moms make it exactly the same. Waitress was very apologetic and replaced it quickly. We were the first table there that morning, so hopefully once service was going full steam that would not happen. We will give them another try.
