Owner description: The Marietta Museum of History is one of Marietta's unique treasures. The museum is located in the Historic Kennesaw House, a structure built in 1845. Located just steps off the Marietta Square, the museum is a perfect afternoon activity for visitors to take in along with local lunch and shopping.

I visited the Museum earlier this year and enjoyed it so much I recently bought another pass via Groupon. From the exterior, the building reminds me of those I've seen in Holland or Belgium but inside the warm wooden floors and museum items everywhere make you want to stay for hours viewing everything. A nice display of regional historical memorabilia and an impressive number of books for sale.

On our visit there we saw amazing things kept by the Museum. Well decorated with exhibets of everything Marietta, Civil War and more. We bought a few things to remember the Museum.

This museum is located just off of Marietta's Historic Square, surrounded by plenty of free parking and within walking distance of other attractions, restaurants and shops. The museum is filled with a variety of exhibits that span time and topics. Many of the exhibits relative directly to Marietta's history, but connect to the world at large as well. Visitor's can see what life was like in Victorian Era through to the 1950s, learn about the role Marietta played during the Civil War, see amazing artifacts from World War II, and more. The number of historic artifacts displayed here is surprising and will be of interest to visitors both young and old. My favorite aspect of this museum is that it is housed in a historic building that's lived many lives; one section of the wall is displayed layer by layer to show the evolution of the building.

The museum is open Monday - Saturday from 10am-4pm and admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors and free for military and children under 5.

I love this museum. It may look little on the outside but it holds a lot of artifacts/history. They have a lot of military equipment to see and I especially enjoyed the dollhouse and the creepy hair curlers. It is a must if you love Georgia history. Also, I love how the museum is in a building that used to be a hotel and used during the Civil War. It is not expensive to come here and you can become members if you choose to do so (which we did). The aviation portion of it(which is not at the actual location of the museum) was very interesting too although I wish we could have seen more of the interior of the planes. Overall, an enjoyable experience!
