“Very nice hotel and staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 November 2013

Hello,

We stayed here last weekend having booked it through Hotwire. On first entering the lobby you can see and feel the warmth and comfort of the hotel. It deserves it's 5 star status. What makes a hotel special is it's staff and all the staff we encountered could not have been more helpful, friendly or courteous. A very special thank you to Noreen on reception for everything.

The hotel is spotless throughout and of all the hotels we have stayed in this is one of the most peaceful at nighttime. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Eddie

Room Tip: For quietness we stayed in room 111 and could not hear a sound at night.

My husband and I stayed here recently. It was fabulous. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left everything was perfect. Service is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. We were lucky to be upgraded to a suite which was warm and comfy with everything we needed. We have previously stayed here in a regular room and it was great. The upgrade was a bonus though. There is a very relaxing atmosphere. We travelled without children but the children who were staying there were well catered for. We had a meal in the restaurant that was superb and breakfast next morning was a treat, one of the best ever.

All in all there is nothing more to say except I'd go back in the morning.

I've stayed in dozens of hotels in Ireland but Aghadoe Heights surpassed them all! Arrived on Friday afternoon into a lovely, warm, welcoming reception area. Check in was seamless and we were shown to our fabulous suite by a very nice receptionist. Fabulous views of the lakes from our room, gorgeous Voya products in the bedroom... Everything was 5 star.
We had a late lunch/early dinner in the bar area.... The food was fine, not exceptional but I felt that was more down to choosing something I didn't really fancy in the end. Service was perfect. Breakfast in the Lake Room was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had. An excellent buffet complemented by a cooked to order hot breakfast. There is a gorgeous well run Spa and a nice pool which we used as our long hike was postponed due to the very wet weather. I wasn't complaining!! We reluctantly checked out on Sunday but cannot wait to return. Location, facilities, staff and a great vibe make this hotel what it is. Put it on your bucket list!!

Room Tip: Make sure your room has a view over the Lakes! Stunning!

I have stayed at this hotel on two occasions with my husband (in 2011 and 2013) and I really cannot fault it. Everything about my stay at this hotel was great. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and professional and arranged transport to and from the hotel for us. Our room was clean and very comfortable with magnificent views of the Killarney lakes and mountains. In fact we liked the room so much we ordered dinner to our room on the first night! I visited the spa on the Saturday afternoon and although it was a little too busy to be a truly relaxing experience, the therapist was very friendly and professional. We had a lovely meal at the restaurant on the Saturday night and relaxed afterwards in the lounge area on big comfy sofas and enjoyed listening to the live pianist. This is the perfect hotel for a relaxing break and I recommend that you try the afternoon tea in the lounge where there are superb views of the Killarney lakes.

Arrived on a blustery wet windy November day to be greeted with a warm smile and efficient check it, our room was really lovely with stunning views and all the amenities that you would ever need. The Spa is just out of this world and the staff are very accommodating and nice ( i feel asleep during my facial ! a first for me ). The restaurant service and food was stunning. To finish the evening off we enjoyed a cocktail in the hotel bar listening to the pianist. Breakfast was just lovely with the waiter being very attentive to our needs. I will be returning. Reading some of the other reviews about the outside of the hotel....... ladies and gentlemen, if you go to a hotel to look at the outside your not living your life to the fullest !! Yes its a bit unusual but look a the views around and go inside and see the amazing decor ! Stop looking at the outside :)

Room Tip: Use the Spa, you will not regret it

Friendly helpful staff - especially in restaurant bar & SPA. Good SPA & SPA treatments. Good breakfast.
Food poor on 2 of the 3 nights we ate there. Perhaps explains the almost empty restaurant & bar.
Refused to serve a charcuterie & cheese plate for one person which is quite astounding for any eatery that offers this as a sharing plate.
Had to request a 2nd lot of toileteries on Each of the 3 days we stayed (2 persons) & a 2nd hand towel on 2 days. These omissions could be regarded as an oversight on 1 occasion but not on 3.
Torn & frayed curtains and stained carpet in the Deluxe Suite 427.
To the receptionist at check out who said 'sorry now about the few small things' when we took a tripadvisor card from the counter, I think I should decide if they were 'small things' as I am the one paying the bill for a stay in an over-rated hotel.
I would not recommend this hotel or return to it.

Room Tip: Rooms at front have a lovely view of the lake. You have to walk the length of the corridor, passing...

Just a fantastic luxury hotel. We would recommend getting a lakeview hotel and the Spa is great. Service and staff are outstanding as is the food. Cannot wait to get back there. This is a great base to visit the Gap of Dunloe and McGillicuddy reeks for some breathtaking hill walking as well as Killarney town off course. The continental breakfast is out of this world but the cooked breakfast could be better (have had better in humble B&B's)

Room Tip: Go for a lakeview room 3rd floor.
