Spent a night at Aghadoe with my new wife last fall on our honeymoon (her first, my third!) We were touring the southwest for a few days. My wife is one quarter Irish and had always wanted to visit the old country. This hotel has the most stunning vista over the Kerry Lakes, totally awesome. We both had a massage in the spa which was really cool. Had a bit too much guinesses but when in Rome .....Hope to get back to the Agadoo some day, had a real blast. Awesome.

Myself and my partner stayed her over Valentine's weekend. We have stayed in some beautiful hotels across the world, but this one outshone them all. Everything in the hotel was pristine. We were upgraded to a suite on checkin. The room had floor to ceiling windows with fantastic views of the lakes. We both tried the Spa, which was out of this world! The food was also great.
The place was 5 star from top to bottom; but what stood out the most was the staff. Everyone from the receptionist to the bar man were excellent, and made us feel so welcome.

It was our first time in Killarney, and won't be our last. We are already looking forward to planning another trip there so we can experience this great hotel again.

I don't normally bother to write reviews on places I've stayed but this hotel deserves all the recognition it should get! I've eaten here a few times and always really enjoyed the food however as I was attending a wedding last weekend we decided to stay the night, and what a good decision that was! We live in Kerry so didn't have too far to travel. Guests couldn't stop talking about the stunning views (even on a grey day!) the killarney lakes and mountains were the best view to wake up to. From when we got to the hotel we were treated like royalty. We needed our room early to get ready for the wedding and this was no problem at all. The staff were so helpful and friendly and the wedding reception was without a doubt the best one I have ever been to. Friends of mine had booked treatments in the spa and said it was incredible, unfortunately we had to leave early on Saturday as we had golf booked but I'll certainly be going back to try that out! Thank you to everyone at this hotel for making our night away such an amazing experiene. Well done!

We recently visited the Aghadoe Heights Hotel and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is top notch in all departments and the Spa is fantastic. We ate at the hotel both nights and were most impressed by the food. This hotel is top of our list to return to. Great staff, thank you....

I've stayed at the Aghadoe quite a few times now and although I love it there as it has the nicest most helpful staff I've ever come across, sadly the rooms have become very dated and far far from a 5 star standard. 3 of us stayed in a lakeside room and was told it was a triple but the 3rd bed was just one that was squashed into the far side of the room for the purpose of accommodating another person. It was smaller than the others and right below the ugly air conditioning unit and it was squeaky and noisy everytime you moved in it! The small telly on the old fashioned brown unit was not at all what you would expect to find in a 5 star hotel, you would certainly expect to see a flat screen. The area around the telly was covered in dust and the room didn't seem like it has been used in quite a long time. The decor is dark and the bed covers have been better days in both style and colour. Outside the door where the patio was it was all weeds and dirty looking which spoiled the view of the lake. The mini bar is no longer filled unless you request it.
The spa is as always a lovely experience but the relaxation area is still very noisy and not at all as relaxing as it should be. Its just too near the spa reception and you can hear people talking and walking about. The ear phones beside the beds are hardly ever working and instead of these it would be nice it there was plugged music and the awful sound of water was turned off! Not abit relaxing, it just makes you want to get up and to to the toilet!
Can't fault the staff in any section of the hotel whatsoever and they are certainly 5 star without a doubt, particularly Shane in the Lounge bar who attended to our every need!
We came down to breakfast in our gowns as I had been encouraged to do this on previous visits but no-one seems to do this anymore and the Manager of the restaurant did seem to raise his eyebrow when he saw us so I don't know if this is encouraged now or not. We didn't feel one bit uncomfortable anyway!
Its a pity the rooms are letting this hotel down as in any other respect its a beautiful place to stay but they would most certainly want to do abit of updating.

We had the pleasure to return to Aghadoe Heights the weekend. Had been there 2 years previously. From the moment of our arrival we had a great positive experience. Susie in reception was very welcoming and efficient and very kindly upgraded us to a lakeview suite. The one thing that struck me was that all the staff we encountered were so friendly and personable. We dined on the saturday night in the restaurant which was excellent value considering it is a 5 star hotel. Dinner was well priced at €45 for 3 course. Decor may not be as extravagent as the Ritz Carlton in Wicklow but the high level of service and attention to detail makes it a very special place to stay. One of my favourite moments was waking up on sunday morning looking out at the most spectaular view of the snow falling... a fabulous backdrop to the mountains and lakes. Like a picture post card..very picteresque. It was magical!!!
