Reviewed 2 February 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed our trip to FDR state park, pine mountain, and warm springs. We chose to rent a pet friendly cabin bc we were staying in the winter and didn't want to camp. Cabin was spotless, comfortable, and convenient. It had a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, fireplace, screened porches, and central heat and air. Pet friendly for a $40 fee seemed high but we wanted to bring our lab for hiking and fun. Park has plenty of trails to choose from, picnic areas and amazing mountain views. We could not believe the scenic views for this area of Ga. Dowdells knob was serene and a must see. We will go back in the Spring and fall.

We suggest dinner at the Old County Store (a part of Calloway Gardens) just outside of the park entrance for good southern cusine, and buy your neccessary cabin food or perishables at the Family Dollar down the rd. Firewood for sale at a nearby gas station for 4$ a load. Cabin did not have matches.

You must visit the Little White House in Warm Springs. We almost didn't and it would have been a mistake. It is a great museum.

Hope this review helps. Have fun.

This is our favorite campground that is close to where we live. It is shaded with beautiful tall trees. There are great trails for hiking. Nice clean campsites. No noise or partying. Family friendly and a great palce for kids to ride their bikes. Love it.

This was a beautiful and enormous park! The campground was full for the weekend and a little noisy, but not too bad. We were glad we'd planned a 3 day weekend, because it was practically empty Monday night!
The trails are fantastic, the campground and bath houses were very clean and well maintained! Convenient to Callaway Gardens and Warm Springs.
We will definitely go back again!

Room Tip: Area 6 is the most tent friendly section!

We just returned from a Sunday drive through Franklin Delano Roosevelt state park and it was so peaceful and relaxing. I suggest you take a couple of chairs, blanket and picnic as we did and enjoy your surroundings. The cottages by the lake are beautiful and it's just so scenic with trails everywhere.

We use the park trails for hiking, and always enjoy it. No matter where you start it's great scenery. I prefer the TV tower trailhead, because of the streams and little waterfalls. I haven't camped there in over a year, but I was not impressed with the bath house facilities the last time we were there.

We stayed a few nights at the Cottages in the State Park. Lots of fun for the kids and the staff was great. Cottage was clean and everything worked inside, lot of fun and relaxing.

Room Tip: Cottage numbers 17 or higher were newer. All very good.

Reviewed 15 December 2010

We've taken our kids down to Pine Mountain almost yearly for the Fantasy in Lights show at Callaway Gardens, with our last trip being in Dec.2008. We've always stayed in a cabin at the state park and made a weekend of it. With our earlier stays, my husband and I often commented to each other that we were impressed with how clean the cabins were, especially given their age. This year, however, was far from impressive. When we checked in, we found torn up foil all over the stove top mixed with mouse droppings. Any surface in the kitchen that you maybe had to bend over to reach was coated with grease. Something brown had very obviously been spilled down the side of the refrigerator but no attempt had been made to clean it. After walking around the 1st evening without their shoes on, the bottoms of my kids' socks were filthy. I don't know what's changed, but we will not being staying at these cabins again.
