We have visited Rice for more than 5 years, two to three times a year. Over time, the restaurant has become more sophisticated in its presentation and menu, food has been of consistent quality, we're missing the live music but most importantly it has become way overpriced. Last night was the final straw.
In the past a dinner with the 5 of us including one kid's portion would be less than $100 including a few glasses of wine, and two two shared appetizers. This was still the case in the fall of 2013.
This winter we had noticed prices had jumped to around $120 or so. Last night (with only one glass of wine @$8!) we paid $150!!
These are downtown prices for a big city, eg. Atlanta, but not for the burbs. And to justify this in the burbs you'll have to do something more extraordinary because with prices at @2x those of another local Thai restaurant a couple of miles, we'll save the $60-70 extra for movie tickets and still have a good meal.
Bye, bye Rice, it was nice while it lasted...
