All the rooms are suites. You feel like you are royalty. The decor is European. The staff SUPER! Dinning elegant. Can't think of anything I would have changed.

We got this at a good price through Snique Away--we stayed mid-week. Maybe that influenced some things. We were on the second floor (what I would expect getting a bargain room) so our view was a peek through other buildings. The rooms are very large, but the bedroom was very, very dark with only one tiny window. The bedding is very rich with lots of pillows and a huge comforter, but no where to place them except on the floor when you retire. There are two bathrooms, and the couch folded out, so this is a good set-up for 2 couples or a family. It was just two of us. The furnishings are opulent--very rich, mediterranean. There is a full kitchen with a keurig coffee maker. The bed, however, needed a new mattress. Ours was so sagging in the middle, both of us kept rolling to the center. We are light people, so it's not because of weight. No one that we spoke to about this even offered us an apology and one of those people was the owner. His reply was that they were expensive mattresses. I told the front desk I'd been up all night because I couldn't sleep. The "gourmet" breakfasts are ordinary at best and teh eggs arrived cold each day. Eggs ordered over medium came hard as a rock. The eggs benedict had so little hollondaise on them, we could barely taste it. The lodge offers bikes for complimentary use. They are not in the best shape. (I recently stayed at a B & B on Amelia Island at a fraction of the price and the food and equipment was top notch--this was not.) The pool was very murky looking. My husband braved it as he swims for fitness, but was not impressed. The fitness room is nothing. A couple of pieces of equipment. When we checked in, the person at the front desk pointed down the hall to tell us where our room was. Later, I saw him escorting other people. Was this because we got our room at a discount? I'd recommend this if you can get it a good price. Not worth it at full price.

I've stayed in very nice hotels. At this price point, I expect a hotel and room to be at the top of the game. We ate at the restaurant and it was okay. Not great. The music was good and the scene was vibrant, but the food was very ordinary.

We spent 4 nights at Ocean Lodge in April. Enjoyed the room, staff, breakfast, location, and everything else. We can't add anything that hasn't already been said. This is a great place to stay on the island.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms in this hotel.

Beautiful hotel! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and pampered! The staff was attentive, helpful & friendly - without exception! The breakfasts were included and were "made to order" each morning. The rooms were opulent and comfortable. All the expected anemities were there! Covered parking was free and convenient.

Room Tip: The penthouse room had the best views.

We just returned from four nights at the Ocean Lodge. We just loved it. Our room was a large end-unit suite, and we couldn't get over the furnishings in the room. They didn't skimp when creating this place. Here are some of the things we liked best:

- The staff - was awesome. Friendly, attentive, and couldn't do enough for us. Even though they were set up up to do complimentary breakfast inside, each day we asked to have our breakfast out on the deck and it was always, "Absolutely - no problem."
- The bedding - extremely comfortable. We both slept like a rock.
- The location - no it is NOT right on the beach, but you need only walk out the front and go about 50 yards and you're on the beach if it is low tide. The beach does disappear at high tide, but if you walk about 5 short blocks, you can be on East Beach which has sand all day long, high tide or not. Walk about 7 short blocks in the other direction and you're at the historic center with shops and restaurants. We found the location very convenient for shopping and access to many great restaurants, most within a short walk.
- Keyless entry - A simple thing to you maybe, but we loved the fact that our room had a keypad with a code for our stay. None of this "what'd I do with my room key?" or "is that yours or mine?"
- Two bathrooms - Our room had a 1/2 bath with just a shower and a full bath with shower and jacuzzi tub. We found this really helpful when were getting ready to shower and go out for the evening.

Room Tip: End units may be slightly larger.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Ocean Lodge to relax and just take a break. We could not have found a more perfect place. The lodge was magnificent and the staff was terrific. We look forward to our next visit!

This incredible 15 room hotel is well located for incredible ocean views (to include shipping lanes and breathtaking sunrises); wonderful ocean breezes that blow daily, and short hop to village and great restaurants. The decor borders extravagant, yet cozy and comfortable. As 'spot on' as this hotel is, the real treat is its owner - Captain Joe Mcdonough. Captain Joe is a colorful native of the Georgia Coast, and keeper of many stories about his beloved coast...most of them true! If you are looking for the rare combination of great accomodations provided by a great host, you are in for a unique experience. Cannot leave out the staff...simply the best!
