We took my parents, young nephew, and our two small kids down to King and Prince for an extended weekend over spring break. We were blessed by extremely warm weather (near 90) for early April.

The King and Prince property is beautiful, well landscaped and right on the ocean. The buildings are old but fairly well maintained. There is plenty of parking and the staff is welcoming when you check in.

We stayed in a 3-bedroom oceanfront condo in the North Villas. Two rooms had king beds and the third had two twins. Each room had a private bathroom, which was nice. The two king rooms had oceanfront balconies and my favorite part of the trip was opening the balcony door and sleeping to the sound of the ocean. The villa was well-maintained but the bathrooms and kitchen were dated (I don't mind as the ones in my house are dated too). The carpet was fairly new and the living room and each bedroom had a flat screen TV. Housekeeping came every day, just like a hotel, and they did a good job and were friendly.

Our main activity with the kiddos was enjoying the resorts pools. There was a small one with a hot tub by our villa and two large ones and a kiddy pool (along with an indoor pool) at the main building. Security was tight and we had to wear armbands (even my kids, which annoyed me) apparently to prevent the people using the public beach access from enjoying the resort amenities, and you could see why they'd want to. The pools were beautiful while the beach down there - how do I put this - completely sucks compared to our beaches here in the Carolina. It is muddy with no surf and almost no beach area at high tide. Very eroded and poor quality sand, although my boys were fascinated by the large sandbar just off shore. Still a beach is a beach and we enjoyed it well enough. The pools were freezing but the kids loved them. I loved the poolside bar and the ease of ordering lunch for the kids right by the pool.

My husband and father played the resort's golf course (now called Hampton?), which is not attached to the property but on the other side of the island (shuttle available) and really enjoyed it, though it was expensive.

We didn't eat at the restaurant for dinner but the breakfast buffet was very normal hotel standard and price ($14/adult, $7/kids 6+, free kids <6). The poolside lunch was OK, again more convenient than anything.

The location of the resort was nice, about a mile and a half from the village lighthouse, with two or three restaurants right off the resort property.

I probably won't go back because it is 6 hours away and we have nice beaches 2-3 hours from where I live, but for folks living in Georgia or stopping off while driving south (about 20 minutes from I-95 with traffic), I do recommend this resort.

Room Tip: Both villas and standard hotel rooms are available.

We've vacationed at the King and Prince since the early 70's and it's always been one of our special places. Late last month, I sent the King and Prince a message inquiring about a reservation using their own web page and never received the courtesy of a reply! Needless to say, we didn't stay there this trip. We did stop by today for lunch in the King's Tavern and were very disappointed in the food. The Low Country Seafood Gumbo ($6) was bland and the shrimp and bay scallops were so soft and mushy that my wife couldn't eat it. And, this was the best of the two lunches. The Seafood Quiche ($13) was at least 2 days old. The crust was soft and chewy and the egg filling was tough and had the texture of old bread. Management just recently advertized a new chef.....he's got a lot of work ahead of him to turn this around.

Room Tip: Better give the new chef a few months to turn things around.

Room was okay. When we got their at 12 they told us we were on the first list to be checked in. 4:00 pm we finally got room. The pool you had to have a wrist band and we were always checked by security to make sure we were staying on property( very aggravating.) The pool
did not have enough chairs and they ran out of towels. The bar at the pool closes at 5pm and you have to get your on drinks. It felt a little under staffed. The bed was very comfortable.

very friendly and helpful staff. The renovation on the central pool area is beautiful. It is the only resort on the island with both a pool and a beach right out your door.

Stayed in the 2 bed room villa, very clean and the view was amazing.

This hotel is so nice. Our room overlooked the pool and ocean and it was beautiful!! The pool area is lovely too. We enjoyed walks on the beach and took a long bicycle ride. Our room was so clean and the decor was very nice. We loved the Friday night Seafood Buffet. I recommend this hotel for a fun getaway at a very comfortable beach resort with all the amenities.

Room Tip: Third floor ocean view was Fabulous!!!

My mother and I stayed at the King and Prince last weekend, as I was attending a conference there. I had eaten at the hotel before but never had the privilege of staying there. The immaculate, large and lovely room, the beach, the food and the friendly, caring staff are truly unsurpassed. I have travelled all over the world but find the King and Prince is second to none in providing most superior quality in a hotel stay. I give it my highest possible recommendation. It is truly the best of Georgia and the best of true southern hospitality!

Room Tip: Try to get a room with at least a partial ocean view.
