“Best Christmas Trip Ever!”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

We stayed in one of the K&P houses last year (Christmas week 2013) and found it to be a wonderful experience. Our family stayed in the house and our friends stayed across the street in a hotel room. Everything was clean; the kitchen was well stocked and, even though it was Christmas week, housekeeping was on top of things w/ cleaning and fresh towels and extra packets of coffee. We especially enjoyed the beach access, the lovely swings on the patios and the gorgeous Christmas decorations throughout the facility--such a treat to enjoy the decorations and not have to decorate our own house. The two whirlpool baths in each of our two bathrooms were an appreciated luxury touch.

Our only glitch came at lunch on Christmas Day. Normally, K&P has a buffet, but because of extensive kitchen and dining room remodeling it was menu-only dining and the kitchen lost our order, much to the consternation of our server who apparently was not being well received the multiple times she went back to check. (The order got blown behind the stove by a fan the cooks were using.) It did take two hours to get us fed, but management comped the meal for our inconvenience and the experience did not mar our enjoyment of the day or of our trip. Seasoned travelers know things happen sometimes and the important thing is what management makes out of a bad event.

There is one odd thing: the swimming pool is in the lobby of the hotel. We did not care as we are not inclined to take a dip, but it did seem odd that it was there where people coming and going are walking around it and also, it meant that swimmers would have to drip their way back to their rooms to get showered and dressed. We didn't care, but I mention this only because families with children might not find this convenient.

We do plan to return this Christmas season and are taking other friends with us as well. (I would have given the K&P a 5-star rating except for the dining experience, but I think that was an isolated thing that would not happen to most people.) We are truly looking forward to enjoying this lovely facility again.

We've been coming here for years and look forward to our next visit. We travel a good bit and the K&P is definitely one of our favorites! The location is so perfect. Being able to park yourself is such a convenience - no waiting for the valet all the time. The Internet access works immediately and I don't think there's a charge for it. A big help if you're on a business trip! The pool area is great. It's nice how the kid/adult pools are separate. And super views of the ocean!

Room Tip: Oceanfront is definitely where you want to be!

Very nice hotel right on the Saint Simons Island Georgia beach. The pool area is very nice and the beach is great. Staff was extremely friendly and parking was very convenient to our room. Room had a GREAT view of the pool and beach. The "downtown" area of St Simons is very quaint and nice with several good restaurants. I would recommend to anyone a trip to St Simons Island and a stay at the King and Prince! Wish we had stayed longer.

Room Tip: We were ocean front in the older renovated building over looking the pool. Location could not have b...

The King & Prince has old time charm and its Friday night seafood buffet is a gourmand 's dream. All you can eat shrimp, oysters and fish plus a good variety of appetizers and desserts. All of it is good enough, but none is outstanding. The service can be excellent, especially for a buffet and the specific locations where you sit with windows overlooking the ocean can be very attractive. Overall above average, but not really first class. Definitely worth trying at least once, however, if you are in town for a week or so.

Staying for 1 night and thank goodness that is it! There are bars all over the tub. I think we are 80 years old! I can survive for one night, but will not be coming back. Also my husband just went to get water for our dogs and it s murky! Lovely!

We stayed in a ocean view room in the historic building with a balcony.
First...based on lots of reviews I have read I have some personal insights. Southern hospitality. As a person from the south I felt right at home. People seem to confuse southern hospitality, which are the upmost manners, with Disney world, where people are trained to brown nose. This is different. Also I can see people that are used to staying in the Ritz at $600 a night might have comparison issues. This resort is 100 years old and oozes with charm. You stand in the lobby and can feel the history.
Anyway, it was our 7 year anniversary. We received complimentary champagne within minutes upon arriving in our room. Everyone at the hotel from front desk to servers to pool service were very friendly and helpful.
We ate at the hotel for several meals and the food was amazing. I mean amazing. The first night the Tavern bought our first round of drinks and our dessert for our anniversary.
Our room was roomy, double sinks in bath, and the balcony is a must here! You could throw a rock in the ocean from there!
The pool area is very large, ample seating, great views.
This is by far the most relaxing vacation we have been on. I can see why people never leave the resort. Downtown area had some great shops to look in.
The grounds are exceptional. Very nice walking areas and swings all over.
We would like to personally thank Rachael at the front desk who checked us in and out who was so sweet and helpful with my questions. Earline and James in the Tavern restaurant who were a pleasure. Thanks so much for making our anniversary one to remember.

We stayed here Sept 21st weekend. We absolutely loved the resort for many reasons:
Incredible beach right on the Atlantic, great for walking, body surfing, board surfing, and swimming my dog in the surf. The waitress in the dining room were full of Southern Hospitality, with great service. Food was delicious, loved the Breakfast Buffet with lots of choices, you are sitting looking out on the Atlantic and Beach, Wow! Glad you take small dogs, this will be good news for many people. The golf course looked great, and only $79.00 per round, very reasonable.

Room Tip: The side ocean rooms can be larger than the oceanfront rooms. The 2 and 3 BM condos were beautifully...
