“Relaxing”
Reviewed 25 May 2008

We originally planned to stay in one of the deluxe rooms after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. When we arrived, we went ahead and upgraded to the Penthouse Suite ($189/night plus taxes). There was a sign at the counter that said the inn did not rent to people under 25, but Ben, the innkeeper, was a very nice gentleman and let us through anyway. Covered parking is also underneath the inn.

Once we got to our room, we were pleasantly surprised. The entrance was actually a door in the staircase on the 2nd floor. Turn the key and you walk up a flight of stairs to your 3rd floor penthouse. The living area had a nice big sofa with a huge flat panel tv on the wall equipped with a dvd player, stereo system (played even in the bathroom) and mini fridge. We relaxed a lot in this area. The bar area contained champagne flutes and wine glasses. But upon close inspection, you could see lipstick smudges all over them. The view of the lighthouse from the balcony was the best in town. There was also a really cool telescope you could use.

The bedroom had a very soft, but comfortable king size bed. There is also a small flat panel tv that opens out of the dresser. Not much else to say about the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable and we slept with no problems.

Onto the bathroom. This is my favorite part of the whole suite. The entrance was covered by padded saloon style doors. All marble interior with a huge sink. The best part is the shower. Make sure you check out the picture. There are actually 2 showerheads in there! The shower is huge.

Overall, for a $20/night extra from the deluxe room, you get a lot more, but it might not be necessary. The inn is only about 50 yards to the Pier and Mallery Street in one direction and another 50 yards the other direction for public beach access.

My family and I stayed for two nights over spring break. We booked the deluxe room which was definately above average in decoration. But we found it to be not so practical. Small things made a big difference. The lighting in the ceiling above the beds, although good looking, was hard to read by at night. We had to turn them off and then the person on the outside could not see to read. Would have been nice to have a bedside table instead of the large tree. The bathroom again was deluxe but no place to put things on the pedestal sink. In fact there was not much space to put anything in the room. No desk, only one luggage rack.

We were within walking distance but I would not recommend St. Simons for children, not enough to do. And it was cold and overcast the two days we were there unfortunately so it really cut down on our options. Luckily the last day the sun came out and we toured Fort Frederica, a great experience. Don't miss it, much bigger and better than we expected.

Although the hotel is "on the beach" there is no beach unless the tide is out, just rocks and a fishing pier. Again, not great for kids.

I may come back with my husband for a quiet weekend of reading but as far as the tourist experience, you may want to choose Disney!

This is a condo hotel, which means that the rooms are owned by individuals who make a profit when their room is booked. The owners have the freedom to decorate their room as they wish, making each room unique.

The room we were in was typical in size and layout. Upon entering the room, the closet was on the left and the bathroom was on the right. The room had two double beds, night stand, a bistro table and chair set, and an armoire for the TV.

The room was decorated in a beach theme. The furniture looked like what you might find in a beach house. The walls had wood paneling that was painted a lovely shade of light blue. The artwork featured shells, lighthouses, etc. The room had berber carpet, which was a nice touch. The bathroom was spacious and attractive.

The only complaint about the room was that the carpet felt a little greasy against bare feet, but overall, the room was clean.

The hotel is small and quaint. It is not glamorous, but the hallways and lobby have been updated and provide a contemporary, yet cozy feel. The small lobby features a seating area, TV, and several tables at which guests can enjoy the complimentary breakfast or afternoon coffee/tea. There is always hot coffee available, as well as bottled water and Otis Spunkmeyer muffins.

The hotel has covered parking on the main level, and you walk up or take the elevator to the lobby on the second floor. There is a very small, clean pool adjacent to the parking area.

The best part is the location - it's across the street from the lighthouse and a quick stroll into the village. Perfect if you want to explore the shops, restaurants, and pier of St. Simons.

This hotel is excellent for a weekend getaway or business trip, but I would not want to spend a week long vacation here. If you are looking to stay close to the beach, you may be disappointed. It felt like a cute, beachy Hampton Inn-style hotel - not a luxurious resort. I'd go back if I had reason to and I recommend it to others.

My husband and I just recently returned from a little roadtrip between Christmas and New Year's and we traveled all the way from Pennsylvania to visit St. Simon's Island in Georgia. During our research online for a place to stay, we found St. Simon's Inn and like what we read, so we booked our stay. The long drive was certainly worth it. I can only say we were very pleasantly surprised to find this Inn centrally located in the heart of the village. From the moment we entered the Inn, we were greeted by a friendly face and were quickly registered. The Inn is small and quiet and decorated in very warm colors and walking down the hallway to our room gave us the feeling of being in a very expensive hotel. We opted to book a deluxe room, which I would highly recommend, as these rooms are decorated by the indiviual owner and our room was just breathtakingly beautiful. The colors were very rich, the bathroom was just beautifully decorated in a gorgeous deep red, and instead of a standard hotel tub, it had a large travertine shower.
After a good night sleep in a very comfortable bed, you walk down the hall to where a very adequate complimentary breakfast is offered along with a complimentary newspaper for the day. There is plenty of breakfast food selections to choose from and the area is very well maintained and continually stocked. Everything about this Inn was extremely clean and very well cared for. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. There is a pool area outside, which offered some tables to sit and socialize with friends, and although the time of year was not condusive for swimming, the pool was still impeccably clean and ready for anyone brave enough to ignore the slightly cooler temperature. The beautiful lighthouse is directly across the small road and everything from restaurants to shops to just lounging by the oceanfront is just steps from your door. We were so happy with our "find" and would definitely return to this Inn. We will surely spread the word about this Inn and the amazing small town that we came to love in a very short time.

The location of this hotel was great. Just steps away from the lighthouse and a couple blocks away from the downtown center on Mallory St. It follows the interesting concept of a condo-hotel, where individual rooms are owned by people who furnish each room to their individual taste. We lucked out and had a room (room 110) that was pretty nice, though I understand that other rooms are much more basic. For the most part, the hotel room was very nicely done, however, there was somewhat of a lack of attention to detail, as described in the negatives below.

Positives: great location within walking distance of downtown; very comfortable bed; unique furnishings (our room had an eclectic assortment of furnishings ranging from african art to balinese dressers to nautical sailboat models); cool modern copper sinks; large LCD television hanging on the wall; helpful staff

Negatives: TINY bathroom and lacked some standard bathroom items like soap dishes (we had to put the soap on the glass sink top where it stuck upon drying); poor bathroom toiletries (cheap shampoo, soap, no conditioner); only 1 hair dryer in the hotel which we had to request from the front desk; tv remote was broken.

Overall a nice hotel and I would consider staying again based on the location and comfortable bed.

Nice hotel right across the street from the lighthouse. Easy access to all areas of the island. Walking distance to the village and beach. We stayed in a standard room which was okay, but I noticed when the housekeepers were working on other rooms that others had much nicer furniture and interior decorating (probably the deluxe rooms). The breakfast was okay, just the basics, no hot waffles. Cut off time for breakfast a little early than most at 9am. Al in all, a good stay, would stay again.

If you can't stay right on the beach this is a good alternative. We love staying near the village where we can walk to restaurants, the pier, shopping, the beach and more. The Inn is an interesting concept of a condotel. Each room is individually owned and decorated. We lucked into a stunningly beautiful room. It had almost every amenity except an alarm clock. I guess who needs one at the beach! The room had a refrigerator and microwave. The walk in two head shower was wonderful. Our room even had a small balcony with a view of the lighthouse. The Inn offers a continental breakfast each morning and coffee all day. I will definetly return.
