“Beautiful spot”
Reviewed 8 April 2014 via mobile

Came here for a visit with my wife and two children and had a very nice time. Learned a whole lot about this settlement that I did not know before. The visitors center has a short movie that explains the history of the area very well. The park itself has a lot of beautiful live oaks all throughout the area and many signs detailing the homes that were here. Prices to visit were very reasonable. Nice way to spend a couple of hours learning about the history of the area and seeing a beautiful part of the island.

“Great junior ranger program”
Reviewed 2 April 2014 via mobile

Fantastic junior ranger program! Best we have experienced in the historical parks. Kids get dressed up in period attire and are sent off on an adventure in the town to deliver a dispatch to capt demere while meeting townsfolk on the way and preparing the town for an attack from the Spanish. Kids have to use a whole kit of items from the time period. Lots of fun and very informative.

“Excellent biking destination”
Reviewed 1 April 2014

We biked out to the National Monument from the lighthouse area parking lot. Fort Ferderica is very interesting and well maintained, a must see when you visit St Simons.

“Great for History Lovers”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

Nice stop to walk around and experience a bit of history. Lovely spot on the river. The docent gave quite an enthusiastic talk about the Fort and the town. James Oglethorpe designed the fort to protect the colony of Georgia from the Spanish who were in Florida. The unique design did just that. Some old cannons for the kids to see and you can also walk into the remnants of the fort.
