“Great location, charming place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

My husband and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary at the Village Inn. It was a great little place to stay. The Inn itself is beautiful, nestled in the moss covered oak trees. We were able to walk through the village, past many shops and restaurants, to the pier and lighthouse. Our room was lovely, the staff were friendly, breakfast was yummy, and the pool was nice and private. I would love to stay here again!

Room Tip: Some rooms have private balconies. We didn't get one. Not sure if you can request one or not.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Village Inn. The room was very tastefully appointed. Comfortable bed. Free on site parking Great location. And Karen at the Pub was fantastic. Can't wait to stay there again!

We have stayed at most of the inns on St Simons Island and this is the best for the money. i will stay here each time we travel in this area, witch is about 2 times each month. The staff is very good even when you lock your key in the room and have to ask for another key.

Room Tip: 214 is a great room but I should not say that because I want to be free for me and my wife. The vie...

The Village Inn and Pub is just what you want to expect, a quaint, intimate and friendly place to stay and make friends. It is extremely clean with a staff that is always ready to accommodate your requests. The location is prime with walking access to the village and a short drive to the beaches of St Simons. I highly recommend The Village Inn and Pub

Loved this little gem!!! We will be back!!! We found it to be very clean, friendly staff, nice pool, and a fun pub! The breakfast was also a plus!!! The inn is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants, so a car is not needed unless you want to visit other sites.

This is a very nice hotel in the St Simons Village. If you do not have to be right on the beach, this is a good option. This hotel is clean and convenient to restaurants, bars and shopping. Good happy hour in the pub.

We knew booking this room we were going to be staying in one of the "retreat" rooms. There was nothing retreat about it, other than the fact that we had the whole complex to ourselves as well as the pool. When we got there, another couple was leaving saying they were told they were sold out. However in fact, the whole "retreat" was empty. We checked in at 3, found our room with hair on the sheets and a dead roach on the floor next to the bed. After calling the "front desk"(calling the hotel directly from our cell phone) since there was no straight connection from the room, they offered to move us to another room. All we really needed was clean sheets and the bug gone. No offer to help us move our things to the other room, 2 doors down, we settle in and the a/c is not working. We hang around the pool after we call the hotel again, said the a/c people were in Brunswick and will be back in a while. OK, well the lady at the desk let us use the shower in room #1 to get ready for dinner since it was so hot. Barbara, who must be the jack of all trades at this motel, came and looked at the thermostat and said its working fine after she got back from Brunswick. At this point it has been around 2 hours and its still 78 in the room and not cooling off one bit .At 9pm we were given yet a 3rd room due to the a/c not working at all. Again no offer to help move, nor any apology. Like we were a nuisance. Well the a/c sure did work in this room since it made it's way down to 65 degrees in no time!
The website states the "retreat" is across the street from the Inn, well it's more like a block and half. The ice machine for the retreat is outside in the weeds by the pool which does not seem sanitary at all.
The only good thing to say about the rooms at the "retreat" is that they are big. And the fact that we had the pool to ourselves. Furniture is old ad with an attempt to make them look better was a nice thing. No carpeting which is good since this is where they put guests with pets. What once was an apartment duplex has been turned into motel rooms for people they obviously think should be there and not in the Inn. No other guests came to check in here, which was odd that they would turn away guests when they did have extra rooms at the "retreat". Maybe they did not want to have to clean them. All we had wanted was some new sheets on 1 bed only, now has turned into a 3 room clean.
At "continental" breakfast the next morning, we overheard Barbara telling maintenance of our issues of the night, and we could hear her referring to us and saying we were not happy enough with the a/c in the 2nd room. Like we were not even in the room. Well we weren't happy because it did not work at all. It was 95 outside and I guess we should sleep in a 78 degree room also. Upon returning 3 sets of room keys, Barbara was trying to charge an extra $18 for the room since we originally booked it for a Sunday night and we changed it to a Friday night which is extra money. Besides the fact that we were not told this when we changed the date, was this their way of apologizing or inconveniencing US for moving 3 times! We should have received a partial refund NOT tried to have been charged more.
Staff is very unfriendly and do not care unless you are obviously a regular at their pub.
This was my 4th stay at the island, and last at this motel. You should never venture away from other hotels that you know already take care of their guests.
