St. Simons Trolley Island Tours

Owner description: Since 1993, the St. Simons Trolley Company has conducted the original and definitive tour of St. Simons Island. Exuding Southern charm, Bunny, a genuine Southern Belle and direct descendant of Pocohontas, provides a hilariously funny, yet well informed narrative of life in the Old South. Kevin the King adds his own twist to the stories of southern heritage and is actually funnier than Bunny. With either one, you're guaranteed a professional and highly interesting tour. Tour beautiful St. Simons Island on the oldest and most acclaimed tour on the island. This is the original historical trolley tour, operating for 23 years in nostalgic, vintage 1930's wooden trolleys. The drive-by tour includes 36 points of interest including the highlight of the tour, a WALKING TOUR OF CHRIST CHURCH CHURCHYARD at historic Christ Church (except Mondays). Other sites include the Lighthouse, one of only three working lighthouses in Georgia; Bloody Marsh, site of the famous 1742 battle where the fate of the Southern Colonies was decided; Fort Frederica, the colonial town and fort settled by General James Edward Oglethorpe; and Retreat Plantation, where relics from the slavery era still exist. We speak SOUTHERN! The St. Simons Trolley tour is one of the most acclaimed in the South. To enjoy the island in true southern fashion, join us on the St. Simons Trolley. You will truly enjoy the entertaining and informative narrative of 400 years of island history and folklore as you ride along in the newly refurbished, original, vintage Green Trolley. We also point out the best places to eat, shop, and play. It's the perfect way to see and experience island life, while getting a good overview of the entire island.

“Get to know the island!”

Bunny was a great tour guide. Loved her stories. Good value. Good they also pointed out restaurants. We did this the first day so we could venture out on our own after getting a good overall idea of the island.

“Loved it!”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

I have lived here for a year and vacationed here many years prior.... I finally took this tour and WOW! This island has so much history and Bunny is a wonderful tour guide! Funny, interesting and informative. I recommend this to anyone coming to this island for short or long stays... you will be so glad you did as she points out not only the wealth of history, but also the local favorites that are a MUST visit during your stay!

“The Highlight of Our Visit”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

If you love history, local color, and a good time, this tour is not to be missed.

If anything, make it your first priority upon arrival. In our short time on the trolley, we learned about so many points of interest around Saint Simons that I found myself wishing for an extra week on the island to visit them all.

Our tour guide, Bunny, was the perfect picture of Southern charm. She wove the island's past and present together through fascinating true stories of love, sacrifice, loss and community.

At the end, I was left with an unforgettable sense of what makes Saint Simon's so unique. Our trolley tour turned an already lovely beach getaway into something truly special. Thanks to that, I know I'll be coming back to the island - and hopefully introducing somebody new to the tour!

“Advertised they were open but weren't”
Reviewed 23 December 2013

we waited 30 minutes and then were told there had to be a minimum number of passengers before they could operate. This is not advertised. We skipped another trolley tour because reviews were good for this one. Next time we'll go on their competitor's trolley.

“Best tour I have been on”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

We always take a city tour when we get to a new city to get the layout. This was one of the best tours I have taken. Bunny the tour operator and owner is a total delight. She was knowledgeable and funny and a real joy to be with for 90 minutes. There are 3 tours on this island but this company has been in the business for 20 years and it shows. If you are looking for a great tour and want a real professional this tour is for you. I understand the other tours are spinoffs. I highly recommend the original. You will love it, we did.
