I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about this property due to the limited pictures on its website. I was not all that impressed with the service we received upon arrival. We arrived at 3pm, which is one hour before the 4pm check-in. The individual working at the front desk was not at all welcoming, and told us our room was ready and that someone would call us when it was. She did not offer us any suggestions on how to spend our time (there are many things to do at the resort) and no one offered us anything to drink. Most resorts of this caliber will offer you a welcome drink or at least a bottle of water.

Aside from the bad experience upon check-in, the remainder of the stay was outstanding! The room was impeccable and extremely spacious. The rooms are incredibly quiet and you literally feel like you are the only one staying at the hotel. The beds were divine. The housekeeping staff did an amazing job.

The Beach Club was excellent and had wonderful service. The staff were extremely helpful and seemed genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed ourselves.

We were just there for a long weekend and never realized how much they had to offer. The prices at The Cloister are high. But like the man said, you get what you pay for. Our room was spacious, well appointed and immaculate. Their focus is on Guest satisfaction and the attention to your every need is unbelievable. The restaurants are extraordinary. I didn't find anything I really liked at The Georgian Room. The cuisine was too exotic for my palate. Travola and Colt & Alison were both outstanding! If you ever owe your wife a luxury weekend, this is the place to take her. It will be worth it...

We were at Sea Island for a work event -- but it felt like vacation. The rooms in the Cloisters are amazing, the service even better. The food served at all our events was excellent -- with a wide variety of styles, the seafood was out of this world. Every night had its own signature cocktails. I was able to use the spa and that too was wonderful.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great. I view of the river would be great.

I brought my family to this resort based on the recommendation of a friend, who visits every year. We were very pleased with the Southern Charm and hospitality. It is truly a high-class experience. Plenty to do for all interests, but certainly not cheap. You will be treated like royalty. It seems that many families come year-after-year and may not be as welcoming to "outsiders", but that is no fault of the resort. A truly great experience.

Elite level service at almost every interaction. Stately traditional experience with just enough modern improvements added over the years. There is an activity available for every interest. The resort is expensive but if you are a discerning traveler you will be impressed. Superb!

The Cloister is the true definition of Southern class and hospitality. No matter where you were on property, you were greeted, asked if you needed assistance, and genuinely welcomed. The restaurants were amazing, the rooms were large enough to get lost in (Beach Suites), and the Spa was world-class. Jackie (esthetician) and Tracey (massage therapist) were absolutely amazing. The spa is a must. You cannot go wrong with this resort. Bicycle rental is also a great bit of fun for an afternoon to ride around the island!

Room Tip: Try to stay in the Beach Suite building rather than the Cloister main building. The Beach Suites ar...

I don't know where to start with The Cloister. The pictures don't do it justice.

This was one of many previous trips to the resort, and definitely wont be the last. I love this place!

Room: I stayed in a riverview standard room and it was perfect as usual. The standard rooms are enormous so I can't imagine what the suites look like.

Spa: Great as always, highly recommend the custom facial and a massage.

Food: We did room service breakfast each morning, it was huge and quite the setup. We ate lunch at the River Bar and Spa, both were delicious. One dinner was at the Frederica Boathouse which is off-property, but beautiful. The other dinner was in one of the banquet rooms in the beach club, which overflowed onto an outdoor patio and firepit, equally beautiful.

Shopping: The store in the Cloister was nice, lots of high-end clothing but not much to choose from for Sea Island souvenir items. The Surf Shop at the Beach Club was the best place for all the Sea Island merchandise, they had all sorts of cute gifts. The shop at the Spa was also very nice, I definitely did some damage in there :-)

All-in-all I can't wait to get back to Sea Island!!!

Room Tip: The Cloister main/river building is the quieter side with less children and noise. The Ocean Club i...
