We are open 7 days a week from 8am until late,12 noon in winter, food served from 8am till 8.45Pm we run our pub with the help of our friends julie, rachael, vicki, and Paul, very high quality homemade food at respectable prices, always top quality ingredients, and all orders are freshly prepared to order, do not mistake us for an over priced over staffed restaurant, we are a traditional pub that serves pub food, we stock a good range of real ales from all over the country, and many proper ciders too. We have a dining room that seats 30, a bar that seats around 20 with dogs welcome in the bar, and a vast beer garden with seating for over 100 people, we are a riverside pub on the norfolk broads with beautiful views across the river from our seats facing the river, we have a darts board, and a free to play bar billiards table, pool table, 2 pinball machines, sky tv for the sports, open fire in winter and electric hookups for boaters over night stays or caravans, we also have 5 bed and breakfast rooms, a double and two twins, all en-suite with t.V. At £30 for single, or £60 for double, and a single and double not en-suite at £26 per person excellent fishing from our moorings, tuition available to novices at quieter times, we also sell a range of fishing tackle, groundbaits, and maggots...Also have a provisions section if you need milk or bread, or forgotten to bring your toothpaste etc, we look forward to meeting and greeting you all. “Good quality Food”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

We stopped for an out of season lunch. The food was good and freshly cooked. The beer was so good that two of us who normally only manage one were easily persuaded to have another. Shame there was only one beer (Real Ale) on but then it was quiet. It's much better to keep one really well than several indifferently. The pub could not be closer to the river and must get really busy during the season. Plus of course if you ever wanted to know what a sugar beet factory looks like close up then this is the place for you ! Seriously, this is a nice pub.

Thank you for visiting us Patrick, glad to hear you enjoyed your food and beer, sorry i only had one real ale available, but as you say, real ales have a very short shelf life, better to keep one in good condition, than two past there best, it wont be long now before i will have more than one on, when the boat season starts again, i have up to 6 running at a time, and on my beer festivals ten or twelve along side over 20 ciders, enjoy the rest of your holiday and we hope to see you again next time your passing our way, best regards, Steve

“Our first Sunday lunch & we will return for many more.”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

We enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch. Two of us had the home made nut roast with vegetarian gravy. The roast potatoes, roast parsnips, yorkshire pudding, stuffing, cauliflower, broccoli, leeks & mashed swede/carrot were well cooked & plentiful. Everything was freshly cooked & hot. We sent our compliments to the chef. The owners & the locals in the pub were very welcoming & friendly. We will be back & it will be especially nice to sit by the river on warm days & enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There are several different areas where you can sit outside. Very pleasant experience today. Thank you. We will be back soon.

Sorry you did not enjoy your roast dinner with us, but just to put a few points straight with you, as far as the pork being tough, i find that hard to believe, no one else mentioned it, and we test each joint of meat before it goes on the menu every sunday, and you say "thick instant gravy"..i can assure you it is not instant, with the pork, it is always home made cider gravy made with traditional cask cider, veg water, and meat juices, i dont think you can buy that as an instant gravy in tesco, the roast courgettes are not strange, and the peppers and onions in them are just there for some extra flavour and colouring, our menu does say seasonal veg, courgettes are in season, so every now and then we use them for something different for the diners that are here every week so they dont have the same veg every week, and as far as the "other seasonal veg kept warm", absolutely not, all our food is prepared fresh to order, we do not run our roast dinners as a carvery, and we dont even have the equipment to keep it warm carvery style, your veg was cooked fresh to order, thats the way our regulars like it. you gave only 1 star for value for money, i think at 7.50 for a roast dinner freshly prepared to order is fantastic value for money, £10 for 2 courses, and £12.50 for 3 courses, all home made dishes, how can you even say that is 1 star value for money, if you want it for £3 then i suggest a greasy spoon cafe, you may even get your instant thick gravy and kept warm veggies there too, regards, steve

“Excellent experience”
Reviewed 14 January 2014

Visited with my girlfriend, stopped off here after a walk from Reedham to Cantley. Very friendly owners and cosy atmosphere. Good selection of traditional games. TV with sky sports. Great location right next to the river. We ordered cheeseburgers which arrived quickly, were very tasty and fantastic value. Only downside of the day is despite the fantastic wildlife on the walk, we didn't spot any otters, but as a close second spotted a water vole on the river next to the sugar factory of all places! It must be somewhat tough running a place which has quite variable visitor levels at this time of year but still I admire the owners for making a go of it, so good luck.
