“Too commercialized and not at all like it used to be :(”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

I have been going to the lazer show and stone mountain since I was probably 6 years old. The lazer show was always awesome with lots of upbeat and patriotic songs. Even though they changed it up some, the bulk of the show was when they outline the carving and give the horses "legs" We used to hear GA on my mind and God bless the USA.
I now have 3 boys of my own and I was quite excited to share this amazing memory with them. However, all the adults were completely deflated when we had to suffer through this new lazer "spectacular" lastnight. I wanted to leave!
First, you get to sit through 10 minutes of commercials using lazers before the show starts(really?!)
Second, they have replaced a lot of the "lazer" part with actual pictures projected onto the mountain and guess what? You cannot even see what in the world they are!
They have replaced most of the upbeat songs with slow "sleepy" songs that not only lost the attention of my 3 boys but mine and the other 3 adults too(my father in law fell asleep!!) Also, somehow, "Let it go" from Frozen was thrown in there out of the blue? It made NO sense and it didn't belong although tons of people sang along because they love the song I guess but we don't and it just seemed silly to have it in there. Completely UNDERWHELMING and definitely NOT spectacular.
The lazer show aside, we purchased lift tickets and then purchased train tickets separately. When we saw the 4d movie "Journey 2" we were so excited as we love that movie. We were told at the door that we had to walk to guest services to get tickets. When we got there, we were told that they don't sell individual tickets to the 4d movie and that we had to buy a day pass for $18.99 per person to do everything. Um no thank you we said. The guy said, do you want to ride the train because it is included and we informed him we already did. Not once did anyone offer a day pass for us to ride everything. We had NO idea since we just showed up like we always have. They should offer a prorate if you can show your receipts for rides that you already paid for so you can get a day pass. We paid $10 per person for the lift and $10 per person for the train already. Ugh. Fail. So the ONE thing my kids were super excited about, we couldn't even do.
So if you decide to go, make sure you get a day pass because you can only do certain things that way and if you are going for the lazer show "spectacular" you might want to pass if you are expecting the same patriotic feel from years ago because it is missing entirely. :(

“VIP Seating”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

We used the VIP seating to watch the show, I preferred the idea of being off the grass. The show was very good, very Georgia oriented and we totally enjoyed it.

“Fun show”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

The laser show was very patriotic, and was a interesting history of Georgia and what it has to offer. Be sure to bring your own blanket (they sell them for $25) or lawn chair (which are $25 a piece). The fireworks are very cool, and the laser show is great for a family trip.
The show was a great way to finish off the night. For reference, you're supposed to take your hat off and stand up for the National Anthem (which is more than the one paragraph that we're used to, by the way). Be sure you note where you parked, there isn't a lot of lighting along the way and there is a herd of people leaving the area so expect delays.

“The show is ok, the presentation of Georgia is great”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

The lasershow emphasizes the archivement and the history of Georgia, which is great. But the laser itself is just ok given the advanced technology we currently have.
