Can not give higher than poor rating since there were so many things that fell short of making this a great restaurant. Very limited dinner menu, server who does not know particulars about their menu, soggy yucca, arroz con pollo that only had a few shreds of breast meat and no veggies, watery beans, mushy white rice that was supposed to be yellow and a very small portion of watery ropa vieja that only had a couple strips of peppers. I really want to like this place, but too much has to improve in my opinion.

With our office in the next building, it is great to stop for lunch once or twice a month. Everything is cooked to order, so not a fast food restaurant. Staff/family are friendly. Always try whatever is the daily special!

We just tried this small restaurant last weekend and we we were missing some good Cuban food all these years!. Everything was delicious, we tried some main dishes, shredded beef, pork chunks (so tender!) and their roasted pork (12 hour cooking time), maduros and fried yucca were great too. we were very impress with the flavor and how good everything was. Big portions, reasonable price. The food it tastes so good that we will be back soon to try their sandwiches. We wanted to try the desserts but we were so stuffed we could not put one more bite. :)

Tonight was our second trip to Mango's. Our previous visit was during lunch and was quite tasty, except that they had no tostones or maduros ("amarillos" in Puerto Rico) because they were out of plantains. We were there because the schools were closed due to icing. Streets were closed all over, so we chocked this missing staple of Cuban cuisine to the poor weather. When we tried Mango's again for dinner tonight, we found mixed results. The tostones were delicious- they are served on a platter in a pool of mojo. Very good. Two in the party ordered sandwiches and both were pleased. My wife ordered the pernil. It was soggy and lacking taste- even the onions added little taste. I ordered the palomilla steak. I have had better at other local spots. Again, the onions had little taste. My wife and I both thought the black beans needed a little spice- even vinegar would have added some zip.

The atmosphere is tropical and bright, though simple. The salsa and merengue music add a sense of fun. The service was good and the prices are reasonable- lower than the Cuban joint in Buford.
