Stayed at this motel because it looked the "best" of the two side by side motels in this tiny town. We stayed in the "presidential suite", which is a laughable name to such a nasty room. Not only is the smell upon entering almost as bad as their "lobby", but the sheets are see through thin, and having no elastic, refused to stay put on the bed. I spent the night worrying about touching the bare mattress. Their towels are also scratchy and threadbare. The room did not appear to have been vacuumed in quite a while. But.... although the accommodations were barely basic, the real horror of this place is lack of security. After having trouble with our door key repeatedly, we were given the "master" key. If we were given the master key, what is to say that anyone staying at that motel might have access to a master key; not only a danger for your property, but what about a danger for one personally. How would they know no one could open a room and hide until the occupant returned, and then attack them. Scary indeed. These people really need to be reported, but WHO do you report them to?

They advertise continental Breakfast and all they have is dry cereal. No milk. If you can stomache the smell of the "lobby" you can eat dry cereal as your continental breakfast. Seems to be a typical Arab owned hotel. Cheap and more cheap. For the most part it is clean but the carpets are stained as well as the sheets and towels. Forget having a hot shower, you get at the most a warm shower after letting the water run 5 minutes. Be prepared to have to make your bed, since they apparently try to use queen size flat sheets in place of a king sheet. Covers come out instantly and you find yourself sleeping on the bare mattress. The baseboards are stapled and the wallpaper is stained. The fridge in the room ran constantly. One plus, they put a full sized coffee pot in the room, but the coffee tasted like what the lobby smelled like. Bring coffee packs of your own. The cable went out and the outside door lights did not work properly. Not many options to plug your electronics up unless you unplug your lamp or clock or fridge. Haven't tested the microwave, so not sure on that. But hey, for $60 in Trion with only 2 hotels, you don't have much choice. It's this place or the Carousel Inn next door, which looks like it is ran the same as this one, possibly same family. I would not recommend this place EVER if you have smaller children as the rooms are half cleaned, or just had a rush job on them. How rushed do they need to be, there rooms didn't even look to be half booked. If your looking for silence, this is not the place for you. The seals around the door are horrible and the streets sounds coming in are loud.

Room Tip: Maybe see if you can look at the room before you rent it.

There are not many options in the Summerville/Trion area, so we decided to stay at this motel. We knew it would be far from luxury, but figured that as long as it was clean everything would be fine. We have family in the area and had no other choice but to be close by. We arrived around 9 or 10 PM to find the front desk woman in her pajamas. She was nice and when I asked the rate she told me that a room was $55. She charged sixty, then said, "I give you very good deal, presidential suite, sixty dollars, that okay?" I couldn't decided if she was joking or not, because the idea of a 'presidential suite' in a place like this was ridiculous, so I just handed over the extra five bucks and walked away. We walked out of the closet-sized check in area (which reeked of curry) and headed up to our room. The outside was somewhat promising and the staff had made a stab at decorating a tree with some Christmas lights, which I thought was a nice touch. If the lights had made it more than half way up the tree it would have been even better. The five rooms to the right of ours had plaques over the room numbers that read 'Presidential Suite.' Ours did not, but obviously I wasn't expecting some sort of luxurious oasis behind the other doors. I'm pretty sure they were all exactly the same. The box springs of the bed were uncovered and smeared with boogers and blood. The sheets and towels were stained everywhere. The carpet was filthy with big, black smudges. The room was generally covered with a layer of filth. The bathroom baseboards were stapled down. Wallpaper was falling off the walls. The corners where the baseboards meet the carpet had a startling accumulation of filth. We spent the entire night imagining that we were being bitten by bed bugs because the place was so filthy. We literally kept turning on our cell phone lights to check for bugs. I don't think there were actually any bugs, but the look of the place played tricks on the mind! I actually considered sleeping in the car because I was so disgusted. To talk about some of the little things like missing lightbulbs and a rusted bathroom door handle seem trivial in describing the overall atrocity that is the Express Inn and Suites. We would have just gone somewhere else, but there is nowhere else close by that seemed to be any better (maybe the Coach Inn, but I'm not sure). I guess my point is that if you are considered staying in this hotel at night because you are driving through or something, DON'T! Go on and get a real night of sleep elsewhere. Even if you think you can deal with 'basic', you probably can't and don't want to deal with squalid conditions.

There is a nice garden at the hotel. They rent to families and businesses. They are very community friendly folks. The rooms are clean.

At $55.00 even (including tax) this property is decent value for the money. It's not anything fancy but it not's bad either. For a traveler just needing someplace to lay your weary head you really can't go wrong here.
