“A Memory Worth Repeating”
Reviewed 26 January 2008

A friend recommended Tybee Island Inn. Since we have never stayed at a B&B before, we thought it was worth a try. We wanted a restful and quiet two day getaway to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our stay turned out to be more than we expected.

The minute we walked into the door, we were treated like old friends. The owners, Kathy and Lloyd Kilday, stayed in our presence just long enough to answer our questions about the history of the Inn, the history of Tybee Island and the good places to eat. Then they would disappear long enough to give us total privacy.

The first very cold evening they made a warm fire in the fireplace located in the living and dining room area and they offered us a glass of wine. Because there was only one other guest, a couple from Virginia, we were able to choose any of the other four rooms. Because all of the rooms were wonderfully decorated and very clean, it was hard to choose. We chose the Dolphin upstairs, because it was very cozy and romantic.

When Kathy learned of my wife's birthday, she gave her a local cookbook. For me, I was able to walk a short distance to the beach each morning . We had two full, fabulous breakfasts the first morning - blueberry waffles and very lean bacon and the second morning - steak and eggs!

Needless to say, our stay was very much a memory worth repeating, and I am sure we will be returning very soon.

My wife and I stayed there for our First anniversary, and I was pleasantly surprised. I typically stay in upscale accomodations but this was a nice change and a much more personnal touch. We stayed in the Captains cabin, an old converted bomb shelter that was amazing. Unfortunately we stayed during the coldest day in Savannah in 10 years and the room was a little chilly and we couldn't enjoy the wonderful screen porch, but it just gave me more reason to huddle up with my sweetie in the romantic accomodations.
The breakfast was outstanding and the innkeeper (Sorry her name escapes me) but she is definitely a morning person as is my wife so they chatted up a storm, Llyod and Kathy came in and sat down and treated us like old friends. They were so knowledgable about the island and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I will certainly go back if I could get the same room (in the summer or spring). We felt like we were at home or at a relatives house. The room was equipped with everything to make you comfortable, that spiral stair case was beautiful as was the bathroom, like something out of an old southern movie.
All in all even with the weather and the chill a five out of five

This was the first B&B for my wife and I. We were thoroughly pleased with the accomodations (Captain's Suite) and the hospitality we encountered. What a pleasure to sit and talk to our host, Lloyd, at breakfast and learn the unique history of the Inn. Speaking of breakfast, you couldn't have asked for anything better. As we were the only guests there that weekend, we were afforded the opportunity to view the remaining accomodations, and found them all to be equally as elegant as ours. We have already picked out the room we want for our next visit and can't wait to return. Aside from the rooms and the atmosphere, the gardens leading up to the front of the Inn are breath taking. If all B&Bs are as accomodating and as hospitable as this, the days of staying at a motel are a thing of the past. If you want an enjoyable and thoroughly captivating experience, come to the Tybee Island Inn, you won't be disappointed.

Me and my three friends stayed there for a long weekend and it was wonderful. The Dolphin room upstairs was really cute and the bed was so comfortable. The inn was just my style, laid back but still nice nothing pretentious. It was very close to the beach, within in walking distance which was great. The employees were very friendly and accomodating and Preston the cook made the best french toast i have ever had. Would definetly return. :)

My husband and I stayed in the Savannah Beach room for one night and absolutely loved our stay. The location was right near the lighthouse and beach. The breakfast was amazing stuffed French toast and sausage. The owners are so nice and welcoming! This was a trip to remember and we loved our stay!

We recently spent a portion of our honeymoon at this wonderful bed and breakfast on Tybee Island. Lloyd and Kathy were perfect hosts. Our room was immaculate, the setting was quiet and wonderfully situated on the island, the breakfast, made by Lloyd himself, was delicious, and the island provided romantic entertainment for us as newlyweds. We look forward to a return visit with great anticipation.

This is a great B&B. We were there for our honeymoon from Dec 2 - Dec 5. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. Great hospitality and great food. The innkeepers were very informative and gave us great advice on where to go and what to do while on Tybee. We stayed in the Captain's Quarters. The room was great and very well put together. We will definitely be visiting the inn again on our next visit to the area
