“Friendly staff, great food”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

If you're looking for a comfortable, clean home-away-from-home type inn, a short walk from the beach, with a friendly, helpful staff and delicious food, then look no further than the Tybee Island Inn. It has everything you could want for a wonderful, relaxing beach vacation, and the fantastic courtyard is incredibly beautiful. Everyone is so nice, but we want to give a special thanks to the personable assistant innkeeper., Christi, who is also responsible for maintaining the lush, lovely grounds and last, but certainly not least, thank-you to Gary, the Executive Innkeeper/Chef, for the delicious, nutritious breakfasts and the daily mouth-watering desserts. We appreciate all of you, and we will long remember, and always treasure, our stay at the Tybee Island Inn.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Savannah Beach room and it was very nice; we loved it.

Well where to start? Great location, friendly locals, beautiful beach, and finally the Tybee island inn.A little gem with lots of character, our room was the sea cabin which had lots of charm and character. We were made to feel very welcome and relaxed from the get go and can't rate this place highly enough. All friendly staff BUT a big heads up for Gary the manager and exceptional chef, who made our week long stay a memorable experience. The nicest guy you could meet who couldn't do enough for us.All we can say is visit this place and you will not be disappointed ,

Room Tip: All rooms were different themes but all looked good from what we saw

We seem to wait until the last minute to decide where we're going on vacation - and this year was no exception. Started looking for a house to rent on Tybee or in Savannah 2 weeks before we left. NOTHING to be found in our size (just 2 of us - no need for a huge house!), price range (under $200/night) with a decent rating. On MONDAY of the week we were to check in (following Sunday), I found a room in this B&B that seemed to meet all the requirements. PLUS it had free parking which is NOT the norm on the island. PLUS they served breakfast! What more could we ask for? A relaxing atmosphere, great food and nice people to socialize with at breakfast. And a decadent dessert sitting in the kitchen every afternoon, with ice cream in the freezer. The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. My husband didn't like the memory foam mattress pad on the bed (made him perspire) and there was a slight dip on his side but hey it was a king size bed so he just moved over. If you are wanting to apply fancy make-up you may want to bring a lighted mirror - the lighting in the bathroom was not conducive to accurate application but it's the beach so who needs make-up. The bathroom itself we large. We had the Mermaid room (they all have themes) which was perfect for 2. There are 7 rooms total, 2 sleep 4 and the others sleep 2. We rode bikes everywhere (brought our own and locked them up in the courtyard but they can be rented also.) And it's on the quiet non-commercial North side of the island which was another plus. Gary (innkeeper) is an excellent chef and very helpful and entertaining. You can't go wrong with this one!

Room Tip: There is no pool. We only saw the inside of one other room (Savannah Beach) and it was smaller and d...

We only stayed one night, wish we could have stayed longer. The short walk to the beach was very convenient and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast was good too. The room fell short a little based on the price we paid, but overall it was a relaxing trip.

Room Tip: We had the dolphin room. It was cute. The private bathroom was good, and the private balcony was a n...

Only a single night's stay but well worth it and looking forward to the next trip there. The grounds leading in are exquisite, so nice to just sit out there peacefully. Place was clean and room was super-comfortable, nicely themed, with lovely views. So close to the beach, parks, and great little restaurants...was sad to leave and looking forward to return visit!

We are on leisurely trip from TN to FL Keys and stayed at the inn for only one night. We stayed in Savanah Beach room and it was great for us. The bath was a combination soaker tub and shower and it was little awkward because of the placement of the valves. No big deal. Brownies and ice cream in common area were great for evening dessert! Short walk to nice public beach maybe 300 yards. Easy walk to beach cafe near historic lighthouse. Quaint neighborhood was officers quarters and hospital complex for historic Fort Severn. Inn building was originally day clinic.

Didn't realize the history of the inn and the area until we arrived. Beautiful landscaped grounds summoned us to the relaxing front porch often during our week stay. Our room was comfortable and well maintained, as did all the rooms appear to be. The owner is gregarious and very helpful. Breakfasts were tasty and plentiful. Homemade snacks in the afternoon! Just a 5 minute walk to the beach. 15 minutes to the lighthouse. Loved this place!
