My boyfriend and I traveled to Tybee Island for the New Years holiday with our dog. We stayed 3 nights and had an excellent experience at this B&B. The Innkeepers went above and beyond to provide a wonderful stay for us and our dog. They suggested a fabulous restaurant for new years eve dinner and even booked our reservation for us! We want to go back when the weather is warmer for sure.

We really looked forward to this trip. We stayed in Flamingo because it allowed our dog. The room is a converted storage room, and we could see why it is not rented out very often. The bathroom is upstairs. The sink is sideways with a wall in the front, so you have to lean over the sink and twist to see yourself in the mirror for grooming. The guidebook in the room stated that shampoo, etc was upstairs. However it was not which meant going back downstairs to get some out of the suitcase. Also no room to get dressed upstairs, so up and down a narrow spiral staircase several times for basic necessities. In our opinion, it should not be a rental room at all. We had no heat on a night that dipped into the 30s. We could see our breath in the morning. The second night they offered us a space heater. Apparently their dog had chewed on the cord, which we found out when my husband was shocked. The power kept going out and we had to scrap our romantic evening plans to leave the room while they figured out why the power kept going out. They offered a measly $20 credit for the inconvenience. When we said that was unacceptable, there response was to ignore us. We hoped to settle this privately, but there refusal to cooperate left us no choice but to warn others.

Stayed at the Tybee Island Inn Thanksgiving 2009. John and Marcy who are the on site managers welcomed us warmly and were accomodating and available without being intrusive throughout our stay. The Inn is located across the street from a nursing home which is a little surprising at first, but hey, keeps the neighborhood quiet. More importantly, it is located a 3-5 minute walk from the beach, a 5-7 minute walk from the lighthouse, but is far enough removed from the main road to be peaceful without being inconvenient.

The breakfasts were delicious (even with a power outage Thanksgiving morning) and the housekeeping error free. The Inn itself epitomizes shabby chic with the feel of a beach bungalow as opposed to an inn. Some of the room configurations are out of the ordinary, but everything was comfortable. The Inn could benefit from an updating of fixtures such as the shower curtain rods, towel holders, etc. Besides that, the Inn is excellent and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Savannah continues to grow in popularity and some of it's charm/quaintness is suffering at the hands of increased tourism. Tybee Island is an excellent alternative as a place to stay as it is removed from the crowds and chaos of Downtown Savannah yet close enough to be convenient (15-20 minute drive). Tybee has a charm and character of its own, and the Tybee Island Inn is an excellent choice for accomodation.

Our stay at the Tybee Island Inn was superb. If you are looking for something different, come to this Inn. To greet you out front are old live oaks with hanging moss and beautiful, relaxing gardens. The hospitality and people that you meet will not be found at high rise hotels. All of the themed rooms are quaint, but updated with all of the conveniences of home. Breakfast is wonderful, family style.

Loved it! Visit Tybee Island Inn.... beautiful decor, very pretty grounds, and hospitality plus by the owners / managers. Will definitely go back for another visit. Inn is strategically located close to beach access, great restaurants, and the Tybee Light House. You can walk or bike everywhere. Park your car and leave it! I enjoyed waking up each morning to the smell of breakfast cooking and fresh brewed coffee. When I'd stop in to change clothes or take a quick nap - snacks were there aplenty! The other guests were delightful and the management of this inn is extraordinarily accomodating. I'll be back....!

Tybee Island Inn's friendly and very professional hosts, Lloyd and Kathy, have built up, decorated, and run the B&B since '94 and well-earn the many no. 1 ratings and praise the inn receives. The house is part of the Civil War Fort Sciven grounds, so there is a lot of history here too. From the first sight of the very beautiful front grounds of the yellow inn, with the long live oak limbs and Spanish moss draping down, we were captivated, and when we walked up the steps to find a welcome message with our names on it, we knew we were in for a treat. Every room is decorated with antiques and artwork and has a porch or patio; our room, the Dolphin, had a second floor deck overlooking the front area, like being in a treehouse, and we could clearly hear the ocean from there. Breakfast, served at 9am, not a buffet but a real service, was delicious: stuffed croissant french toast, cheese grits with eggs, slices of pastries. In the afternoon, the cook puts individual 'snacks' in the butler's pantry refrigerator - spiced rice pudding or a strawberry trifle. Rooms are very comfortable and quiet, with king or queen beds, A/C, baths, and wireless internet. Both hosts are happy to give directions, make recommendations, and just chat. The beach is a 3 minute walk down the street, and two of Tybee's best restaurants are just 5 min. further - the Sunday Cafe and McClarees. The island Lighthouse and Museum is only a five min. drive. It's an ideal B&B, wonderfully done, and highly recommended,

Very roomy, homey and comfortable. The innkeepers were full of southern hospitality and information. The breakfasts were very, very good and unique. The area is very tranquil and peaceful. Appreciated were the little snacks left out each day. It was very enjoyable to sit out on the long front porch with a cup of coffee and the newspaper. A definite place to remember if we are in the area again. Joan/Rich Livonia, Michigan
