We spent a week at the North Beach area of Tybee. We were a short beach walk to the Lighthouse area, museum, and North Beach Grill. It was quiet all over the island in January, and especially so at North Beach. Great shelling, I could ride my bike at low tide. The walk and bike ride along the streets in the area were just as pleasant. I loved the Fort Screven historical area with its bed and breakfasts and restored cottages. The American Legion is up this way, too (check out their monthly dinners--the fish fry was great!). I don't know about the swimming in the summer--there were signs advising of underwater hazards while we were there. The north end was my favorite part of the beach, though.
