We were only on Tybee Island for one full day and were not familiar with it. After spending the entire day on the beach, we were looking for a great waterfront restaurant in which to eat, on our last night before heading home. Since we used to live on the Gulf Coast, we were amazed that there are so few waterfront dining choices in the area. But we were determined to find one and came across AJ's. The parking lot was small, but we were lucky enough to pull up just as someone was pulling out. After parking, we noticed quite a few folks waiting outside and knew we would have a wait. That was ok with us as we headed into the bar area for a drink. The wait was only about a half hour and that time was spent chit chatting with those at the bar. BTW....Kayla made some great drinks for us...and YES, she does deserve her own sign behind the bar! :)
When they were ready for us, we were seated outside, which was great. The clouds had moved in and rain seemed on the way, but did not arrive before we left. We took our time ordering and finished our drinks, while our waitress brought our our Greek salad and my husbands Crab Stew. All very good so far! For dinner, we both had the Scoured Flounder, which we had been told by someone at the bar....was the fish dish to get. We were not disappointed. It was great, along with the hushpuppies and the potato salad. To top it off and to end our vacation on the right note....we shared a piece of Key Lime Pie! Ahhhh yes...we were happy campers! Even bought a visor before leaving.
