“Not your typical B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 January 2013

...but a great little place, nonetheless. It's basically a house that was re-finished as a B&B by the owners of the Desoto Beach Hotel next door.

Debra or the other gal (whose name fails me) came in every morning to fix breakfast and clean the rooms. Both of these ladies were very engaging and enjoyable to talk to - and of course watching Edgar, the crow's daily feedings were a hoot.

Our stay here over Christmas was perfectly relaxing. The Tybee Suite was very nicely furnished with lots of space, a private balcony and view to the ocean - what more could you want? The breakfast was very good and plentiful, made fresh every morning.

Wine and cheese at 5 pm is a nice extra. With only 3 rooms in the B&b section, it's quite cozy. The entire B&B is spotless, has a nice common area with balcony and rocking chairs and you're just a quick step away from the ocean.

Location on the north side was very convenient and walking distance to some nice restaurants.

We'd definitely recommend and will hopefully return.

Room Tip: Tybee suite has private balcony on ocean side, atlanta room has window on ocean side, butler is stre...

We upgraded to the Tybee Suite for our stay over Thanksgiving. It is huge. Debra is amazing. The breakfast is wonderful, you have wine and cheese in the afternoons. Desoto Bed and Breakfast is on the ocean side but you do not have a direct view of the ocean. It is obstructed to some point. We could however lay in bed and see the ocean. I would definately stay here again. I miss Debra and Mr. Crow. It is extremely clean and the common area is extremely nice.

We had a great stay. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was perfect. A very short walk to the beach. Ms. Debra was great. Love the french toast. The room was clean and cozy. The common area was very relaxing. I hope to return again with family and friends. Hopefully, this time we will get to see Edgar the crow....lol

My husband and I stayed here for a few days in September. It's beautiful. The breakfasts are fabulous and we also enjoyed the wine in the evening and the treats at night. The rooms are nice and the location is great. There's really no view of the ocean, but it's a close walk. It was clean and nicely furnished. We highly recommend it!

The breakfasts served by the lovely Debra were great. The location was also good, near the beach. There is a large window in the sitting room that used to have a view of the ocean but now just has a view of the wall of a house. I can only review the butler room, the other 2 were occupied. The room was small with too big furniture. Nice sized closet. If either of us moved in bed, it woke the other, so sleep was difficult.

Our first trip to Tybee Island and with so many accomadations to select from, I couldn't be any happier than the DeSoto B&B. The room was perfect. We stayed in the Atlantic and had a small view of the Atlantic Ocean, and woke up to the beautful Sun Rising (we had the curtain open) and got up, and walked to the beach. We stayed there 12/6/11 and the weather was perfect.
Debbie prepared an amazing breakfast for my husband and I the next morning, and she was wonderful. A local of the ISLAND and she had so many interesting "Tybee Time" events to share with us. When we return to Tybee, we will certainly stay at the Desoto. Hands Down!

Room Tip: The Atlantic is facing the Ocean, however the B&B is not beach front so there is only a small ar...

I and my wife with two adult kids stayed at DeSoto Bed & Breakfast "Nautilus Suite". It is spacious and comfortable with old style southern decor. Bathroom was nice, clean and modern. But the suite had a musty smell. It may be due to the fact that suite is not centrally air conditioned (has a potable AC units) yet widows are sealed shut and can not be opened. It took a while before room ac unit could reduce humidity which in turn reduced musty smell. There was no view of the sea at all. But the beach is only about 50 feet and one can walk barefoot to the beach. The Beach itself is very pretty with white sand.
The Breakfast were very well done. The service was just marvelous. The breakfast cook is a very cheerful woman who treated us as like family. The Breakfast alone is worth the visit.
We could stay for one night only. Next time we will stay longer.

Bottomline - It was a good value, barefoot walking to beach, great breakfast and we will go back.
