“Tybee Aquarium”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014

Turn off Butler onto 14th street. Turn right into a long parking lot. Go toward the end until you can see the Pier and park. The aquarium is on the right. It was not that difficult to find and it's not sea world but it was a good way to kill an hour with 2 toddlers on a rainy day. Some of the negative reviews on here are a little harsh for such a small community resource. it is what it is and you shouldn't expect the world. The staff is friendly and helpful.

“Very small, but worth the money.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014

I had read the reviews for this center so I was prepared for the size. And, as expected, it was very small. But, well worth the $4.00 admission fee. We participated in a back-room tour which was included in the admission price and it proved to be very nice. We got to see and hear about a turtle who had broke it's leg and was waiting for the vet. We saw a puffer fish who was waiting on the special fish doctor to arrive from Flordia. We heard a few other stories and got to ask our own personal questions. This was a nice little diversion from the typical beach day. Again, it is very small, but a nice experience.

Tracey,

Thank you so much for your awesome review of the science center! We really appreciate your thoughts, and you really seem to 'get' what we're all about. As an update, Ruby (the terrapin with a broken leg) got some pretty cool treatment from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center last week. Their vet was able to set her broken bone and believes that, with some healing time, she'll be as good as new. Bianca, our stars and stripes puffer fish, is also doing really well.

Thank you again for supporting the center and leaving such positive feedback for us. I hope we see you again soon for a beach walk or marsh trek!

“Information at it's best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2014

The Science Center has many species of marine life. There is plenty of written information at each station and if you have questions there are resident experts on almost every species. Their hands on tidal pool is fun and interesting to everyone and the kids love it. They also have a unique gift shop. I think this is a must see for all Tybee Island visitors.

“Exceptional science experience”

A "must see" for folks new to the beach, especially for kids. An invaluable learning experience that will give kids (and maybe some adults, too) a new perspective of the wonders of the ocean.

“Educational experience enjoyed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2014 via mobile

Nice MSS to visit and learn. The video screens and the information written (on tags) on displays gave a lot of information. I happen to be there when a school group was there. The MSS guide/teacher was excellent in how she spoke with the kids. They had a session in the classroom 1st ( I could tell because of the questions she asked the kids and how she kept referring back to what they had talked about. I found myself standing there listening to their lesson (the teacher in me). Yes the MSS is small but has a wealth of educational information. I enjoyed it.
