Beautiful restoration in an historic setting. Quaint town square. Very accommodating and friendly atmosphere. With 5 family members staying, the manager was helpful in placing us in rooms to suit our very needs.

Room Tip: Second floor bay front king room was huge and purposed a comfy rollaway for child.

My wife & I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights and we were the ONLY guests, which made for an unusually quiet hotel - total silence and even though my wife didn't care for the ultra quiet, I actually thought it was fine. The owners allowed us access to and from at will and we had the nice continental breakfasts in the mornings. We did see a desk clerk once to check-out, but essentially we were on our own in this grand old remodeled hotel. The room and bath, reception and breakfast room was very nice and it is clear that the hotel is used for weddings and meetings, etc.. We were there at the beginning of a week and the entire town was quiet and not busy anywhere. I was there on a family-history gathering trip, so all was great anyway.

Jim,
Thank you for your review. I am glad that you had a pleasant stay.

You brought up a very good point that Washington is very quiet Sunday - Tuesday with many of the stores and museums closed during that time. Based on your review, I plan to update our website to reflect this so that customers coming to town for a getaway are aware and can plan their trip accordingly. Additionally, the Fitzpatrick only opens mid-week (Sun-Thu) if a guest requests accommodations so the hotel can be very quiet during those days of the week especially if we have opened for just one guest.

We hope to see you again on your next trip to Washington.

This hotel has been beautifully restored, but the hotel is little used. When we arrived in the morning, there was nobody in the hotel. An employee arrived by 3 pm. We were the only guests for 3 nights, and frequently were the only people in the building. The hotel has decent wireless connections. Breakfast included juice, coffee, cereal, yoghurt, fruit and breads with jams, but there was very little protein. The burden of care for this large and beautifully restored building is huge, and it was evident that cleaning and restoration is an ongoing challenge -- especially difficult with a small number of guests.
This is a great hotel for groups to visit, and for small meetings. I would return, as I enjoyed the peace, the welcoming attitude of the staff, and the very friendly people in this town.
Washington also has very few tourists, at this time of year. In Washington, on the Memorial Day holiday, all of the businesses and restaurants in town were closed, except for the Verizon store. There is no cell phone provider in this town except with Verizon, and we had no service on our phone for 3 days. The local library is excellent, and has a great internet connection.

We checked in on a Monday and were the only guests that evening. The innkeeper gave us the key to the front door and his phone number. What a wonderful time...cocktails in the garden, exploring the ballroom, a picture book depicting the history and renovation. And a very comfortable room. The morning breakfast offered a wide variety of baked goods, cereals, juices and fresh fruit. The restoration is excellent and the rooms are comfortable. Washington is a quiet little town( particularly on a Monday) rich in civil war and revolutionary history. The walking and driving tour of the homes is interesting as is the historical museum. A great place to slow down, turn off the phone and the gadgets and enjoy

Room Tip: 307 is a treat

There really is nothing to do in Washington, GA other than take a driving tour of the 100+ antebellum homes (the guide can be found at the Welcome Center). The hotel was nice but after checking into our room one of the innkeepers came up and told us we had to change rooms. We went from a roomy, spacious room overlooking the town square to a back room that was considerably smaller. This somewhat disappointed us and we thought it was most unprofessional. Not sure why we had to move as both rooms had a queen bed. It was like giving a lollipop to a baby and then saying "woops", taking it away, and giving a pacifier instead.

My husband and I spent Valentine's night in the historic hotel. We love to stay in restored propertys! Our room 307 (top floor of the tower) at The Fitzpatrick had antique furniture including the bed frame, which was beautiful, and a gas fireplace. The claw footed tub and old-fashioned plumbing was a step back in time. The service was perfect! We were able to check out a movie in the lobby and the flat screen in the room offered modern comfort. Breakfast the next morning was great--it included fruit, pastries, juice, coffee, and milk. This hotel feels more like a bed and breakfast with all the quaint charm. The view from our room allowed us to look out over the square and we walked across the parking lot to The Jockey Club for dinner--which was also spectacular! I could not be more pleased with our one night stay. Be mindful older buildings can be drafty and bring slippers or a robe for comfort :-)

Room Tip: 307 has to be the best room in the building, besides the suite.

You'll feel like you're stepping back in time from the moment you approach the front door. The attention to detail used in the restoration of this historic Hotel is apparent everywhere you look. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. My wife fell in love with the large clawfoot bathtub. After relaxing with a complimentary bottle of wine, we had one of the best night's sleep in recent memory. The "continental breakfast" exceed our expectations with a wonderful "home cooked" breakfast casserole along with the usual fare of cereals, rolls, fruit and juices.

If you're looking for "state of the art" with a business center to rival IBM, look elsewhere, but if you're looking for "state of the art" for 100 years ago with impeccable service and appointments, this is the place for you (and yes, you can still get Wi-Fi!).

Room Tip: All rooms are great, but the next visit we will get one of the tower rooms for a little more of the...
