I had the good fortune to stay at Ashford Manor Bed and Breakfast while attending a wedding in June. As a wedding site, the grounds could not have been more perfect and created a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony and the pictures that will bring smiles at each and every look. The day before the wedding and the one after gave me time to experience everything that a first-rate bed and breakfast should offer but rarely do. The common rooms and my room, The English Room, combined elegance and comfort with special touches wherever I looked. The breakfasts were a true dining experience with delicious food plated with exquisite mastery. All of the Ashford Manor people were genial hosts whose main goal was to make each guest's visit feel welcoming, personal, and valued. They succeeded.

My wife and I spent our wedding night here a decade or so ago, before continuing on a short wedding trip; we had such a wonderful experience we've returned on our anniversary every year, and stayed once or twice in between anniversaries each year as well. So it was a special delight to learn that ASHFORD MANOR was the first choice of my daughter and her fiancé for their wedding venue. We rented the entire premises for the full weekend, from Friday through Sunday afternoon, at a very reasonable price; family members and close friends stayed at the Manor, as did my wife and I, and all events for the wedding, including the Friday night rehearsal dinner and the Saturday wedding ceremony were hosted on the Manor's beautiful grounds. EVERY ASPECT of the event went perfectly, thanks to the extraordinary hospitality and expertise of the innkeepers Dave Shearon and Mario Castro and their highly competent and cordial staff. When asked "did ANYthing at ALL not go according to plan," our wedding coordinator replied "Nothing at all--the entire event went perfectly!" The innkeepers are highly expert at handling such important occasions and did so flawlessly, even despite a rainy evening for the rehearsal dinner, where everything was beautifully and effectively tented: despite a pretty impressive downpour, we all stayed high and dry and happy!! The buildings and grounds are absolutely gorgeous, as attested by the other reviews on this site, the breakfasts are gourmet quality and handsomely presented, and--again--the innkeepers and staff are impeccably expert, efficient, and genuinely cordial and accommodating. We had over 160 guests and a grand time was enjoyed by all. I cannot recommend the ASHFORD MANOR more highly, for a wedding or similarly grand occasion, or for a single overnight or weekend holiday; the summer concerts on the lawn and other annual special events are also always great fun: CARPE DIEM!! :)

Gracious, charming, beautiful! Our stay at Ashford Manor and the wedding of our son and daughter-in-law there were wonderful. Our rooms were lovely, breakfasts were fabulous, the grounds are so nice. It was the perfect setting for the wedding of our son and daughter-in-law. We have only superlatives!

If you love gardens and older homes, Ashford Manor is definitely the place to go! Extremely charming we loved our stay at the Cottage Hideaway Suite! The attention to detail in decor was charming, and the room was clean and tidy. Their grounds are beautiful to stroll through, with lovely sculptures, and beautiful flowers! Across the street you have plenty of options for dining out, cafe's and coffee shops! We loved meeting Dave and Mario, and they were extremely welcoming! Overall a charming experience and we will be back!

Room Tip: Suites are perfect for privacy!

We spent two lovely days and nights at the Ashford Manor Bed and Breakfast in Watkinsville, GA. We enjoyed the Cottage Gallery immensely with its unusual collection of artwork and bric-a-brac. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the rooms large enough for our friends whom we were visiting to come by. When in Middle Georgia, do yourself a favor and book your stay with Ashford Manor B&B, even if it's a little out of the way. Watkinsville is a delightful town.

Not only is the manor itself gorgeous and full of character, but the owners were wonderful people who helped me out of a bind when I needed to get into Athens and realized that there was no local taxi service. They were so kind and full of good advice, and they helped me to get where I needed to go. A very reassuring stay for a woman traveling on her own!

Thank you for your kind words, and reflections on our service. There is no cab company in our little town (9 miles south of Athens). The cab service in Athens is often an option for our visitors, but subject to availability, time-frame and sometimes cost. For our 16 years we have developed several creative means of overcoming this little inconvenience, even driving guests ourselves to destinations, or arranging private car services that are at our exclusive disposal. Our private 5-acre estate provides tranquil security, at the center of a small, historic town with shops, restaurants, galleries, within walking distance. Just ask, should you feel the need or necessity to travel outside our bit of Heaven. We will see that you get to your destination and back, 'home'. But a slight distance from busy Athens, our mission is comfort, service and beauty. Best wishes from the staff at Ashford Manor, and hopefully a speedy return.

What a great place. Enjoyed meeting new friends on the huge front porch. Stopped for complementary wine in the beautiful 19th century parlor on the way to our room. Its theme was Asian and was really well appointed. We liked the mix of new amneities with original objects like the claw foot tub and sink fixtures. It was our anniversay so it was a delightful way to celebrate. The big country breakfast was fantastic, thanks to Mario. You can't go wrong here. We live in Watkinsville but will stay here many more times in the future.
