Great cottages! Beautiful hiking and tons of geocaching :-) Can't wait to visit again! Looking forward to getting on the lake, when there's some warmer weather.

We spent two days in one of the yurts at Ft. Yargo State Park in Winder. We usually tent-camp, and going back to a tent will be hard after our time in a yurt. We've camped at Ft. Yargo several times, but this was our first time in a yurt. We reserved yurt #2, which has a great location and view. The yurts are equipped with lights, ceiling fan, and heat. Yurt #2 had two futon-style beds, a top bunk, and a fold-out chair with ottoman, accommodating our group of 6 perfectly. The beds weren't very comfortable, but much better than sleeping on the ground. The yurt sites have picnic table and fire pit, as well as a deck overlooking the water.

The 6 yurts are close to the newest bathroom, which is clean and well-lit. There are two family/private bathrooms with showers, and the public bathrooms have two showers each. Showers had plenty of hot water and great water pressure for 6 showers.

Canoes are available, at $10 each for the length of your stay. Our four kids spent a lot of time in the canoes. The yurts have life jackets, so we'll leave ours at home next time. Wagons are available for use to make carrying your gear from car to yurt a breeze.

You're only a few miles from downtown Winder, so if you forget something, or want to run in to town for a quick cup of coffee, it's very convenient.

The site hosts and front office staff were very helpful and friendly.

Hard to find water in the metro Atlanta area but this park is a good option. It's located in Winder and there is a nice lake for adults and kids. Nice trails to walk/bike and it is a nice break from the Atlanta city-life. We've enjoyed ourselves every time that we have visited the park. they also have a outdoor roller skating rink that the family can enjoy.

Camp hosts were friendly. Campsite was right on the lake. Husband brought small boat for fishing. Kids came over for a cookout one evening. Bath house was decent. For camping this is a good place whether your in a motor home or tent. They also have yerts that you can rent to Tay in. We actually stayed here in the spring of 2011.
