“A short nice getaway trip if you live in GA”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

We found a good deal through Half Off Depot because we are not able to afford at the real cost of a resort. We decided to check this place out...got a room on 4th floor with a nice view of golf, small waterfall, and moutain...yes you have to pay extra $30 for this but you can sit on the balcony and relax. Be sure you ask for a nice view....my room was #401. We ate lunch there outside...it's not that cheap but they were good..I had pecan chicken salad sandwich with french fries. One thing I didnt like is they will charge you if you take snacks or water from the room which I think they should be part of it as a nice treat. I didnt like the tub: you cant relax in it but bathroom was very nice though. We swam for an hour...had 2 small hot jacuzzi. Half of the pool was inside which was warmer and the other half was outside which was cooler (we went in April)....the breakfast buffet was part of the room deal which was nice...definately better than McDonald's. We rode on horses for an hour and got half price off too. It was worth it! We decided to try spa for the first time ever in our 17 years of marriage....it was somewhat expensive but a good experience to start off with. You can also get half price off too. All through Half Off Depot! This was a nice belated 17th anniversity getaway for one night. Worth it if you live in GA....Young Harris is a very small town so not a lot to do but relax as much as you can at the resort. By the way, eat at Brothers at Willow Ranch across from the resort...good ol southern food! Overall, all was great for a great price...cant beat it!

Thank you for choosing us as a part of your 17th wedding anniversary celebration. I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your room and the balcony. I will take into consideration your suggestion about the in room snacks and beverages we have for sale. The pecan chicken salad you mentioned is one of our best selling lunch items, I am glad you enjoyed it. I hope you consider us again for future anniversary celebrations and getaways.

Thank You,
Charles Burton

Killer place. Gorgeous golf course, great dining, beautiful cocktail lounge, very nice rooms, swimming pool, exercise room, gift shop, pavilions for private events. Also you can rent a private cabin on the premises. Everything about this place is fabulous.

From my initial conversation at check-in, to my long conversations with the beautiful young woman who cleaned my room (331 from 3/28 - 3/31), I was amazed at the genuine friendliness of the staff at Brasstown. The wait-staff in the restaurant made sure that my overly restrictive dietary restrictions were maintained while making sure I had enough to eat along the way. The Bell-men were well educated, astute gentlemen who wanted to discuss the day's topical events. A rare occasion in Georgia and one to be celebrated. Even the management is to be lauded for their patience with impertinent red-necked-customers who just didn't get it and wanted to fight every charge on the bill even though they HAD requested the in-room pornography channel be activated; they didn't think they should be charged extra for THAT! This lady went on for a good thirty minutes and the manager never lost her cool...at least not while I was watching. The staff here is worth the trip and worth the price of admission. Go, stay awhile...let them pamper you...you'll be glad you did.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a balcony.

My husband and I stayed one night from an internet deal. We were WELL pleased. The room (Cottage King) was spacious and very clean. We both commented about the bed being comfortable and getting a good nights sleep. I am a road warrior, having spent 80% of my work time away from home and in some nice hotels. I am fairly critical in my stays having experience in the upper end hotels. This resort was excellent! Clean, friendly, and just what I would expect for a mountain stay. I think people need to be realistic with expectations! The breakfast was a good variety, hot, and not many resorts have a chef at bay to make an omelette.

Room Tip: The cottages are in a wooded area with wood views. Makes sense. If you want a room with long range v...

Visited 3/23-3/24 for a buddy's wedding. We were fortunate enough to have purchased a deal many months back for $99 for $200 worth of credit at the resort and purchased 2 of them to cover our stay. Would have been disappointed had I paid the $189 per night rate. Room was nice, but not $189 nice. Bed slept well and room was clean. Ate the breakfast buffet Sat. morning and quality of food was good but nothing special. Could have used a bit more variety. Overall a good stay and a beautiful wedding.

Room Tip: Room views seem to be better in the middle of the building and on the back side. We had a 3rd floor...

We checked in around 5PM 3/24 and was given Room #512 (which has a partial view of a parking lot). Below are the number of items we found wrong with our room:

ROOM:
1. The bathroom airvent and light fixtures are dusty.
2. We found hair in the toilet stall and the tub
3. The telephone is dirty (looks like old make up) and found hair there too.
4. We found a piece of paper under one of the beds.
5. Overall, the room is dated. We expect resorts to be one cut above regular hotel rooms. The room we had was comparable to a Holiday Inn Express.

HOTEL LOBBY:
Part of the hotel lobby is hardwood floors and very dusty underneath the furnitures.

RESTAURANT:
Breakfast buffet (which is included in the room charge) was just OK.

OVERALL:
1. We were charge $10.00 for Hotel Service fee which we were shock to see. Part of the fee was: free parking; internet use, gym room use, other activities. We did not use any of them so the front desk lady was nice enough to remove it. But we paid $4.00 for Valet Parking (which is good) so why are we getting charged for "FREE PARKING". If it's free, why are we getting charged? Our suggestion is to include all the charges in the room stay so no one would question what a "HOTEL SERVICE FEE" is.
2. We made reservations when we got there at 5:00PM for manicure and pedicure. At the time we reserved it, we were not told that there is a 20% gratuity fee for cancellation within 24 hours. We checked out at 8:30A the next day because we were dissappointed in our stay. We called the Spa area to cancel our reservations at 12:00P and 1:15P. We got a call back and was told we are going to charged a 20% Gratuity Fee each for cancelling in less than 24 hours. We didn't have 24 hours to begin with when we made our reservations, so we didn't have 24 hours to cancel. The charges for Mani/Pedi is $105 each, so it's about $20+ per person charge. The money is not the issue, it's the principle. Whoever takes the reservations should let the customer know that there is a 20% cancellation fee.

Thank you for choosing Brasstown Valley March 24th. I appreciate that you took time to provide feedback regarding your visit.

It was disappointing to read that you had concerns regarding your accommodations, with our fees, communication, cleaning of your room and the lobby. I apologize that we failed to deliver a seamless experience. I will share your feedback with my team focusing on addressing the concerns and improving the consistency of our processes.
We are in the process of a multi-year Capital refurbishment which includes furnishings.
The $10.00 fee you referenced is a daily resort fee that we charge on all rooms. The $4.00 fee you paid was for valet parking which is not part of the daily resort fee. The valet fee goes directly to the staff members that parked your car. I believe the information you read stated "self parking"? The daily resort fee is discussed during the reservations process and in confirmation letters with hopes of preventing any concerns or confusion.
We should have communicated the 20% cancellation fee during the reservation process. Our spa manager will cover this step with the team and follow up to ensure that we are communicating correctly moving forward. I don't believe the spa was aware that you were canceling your services due to not be pleased with your visit. I will have my team remove the charge immediately.
Again, I will work with my team to ensure that we improve the consistency of cleaning and communication during the reservations process. I am sending you a follow up letter with a goodwill offer with hopes that you will consider returning the Brasstown, allowing use the opportunity to regain your confidence.

Please feel free to contact me directly if I may be of any assistance.

I stayed just one night on a cold winter day so I could speak at a conference the next day, so I had no time to really explore the place. All of the staff were very friendly, and the building was impressive. My room in a "cottage" was huge and comfortable. Some of the main hotel rooms have good views, but others do not. It was dark by the time I got to my cottage room, which made it a bit hard to find. The TV system is old-fashioned, which seemed in keeping with the "get away from it all" vibe of the place. The shower and towels were top-notch. I could definitely see coming back here for a couples get-away if the price were right.

Room Tip: If a view is important, be sure you ask.
