We were pleasanty surprised by Boise overall.

My 18 year old son and I were visiting Boise for a Niece's wedding on Friday August 8 and got into town very early on August 7 and did some sightseeing before the wedding.

Overall it was a great day outside in Boise.

We stayed at the Grove Hotel, a short walk to the Capitol building.

We walked right in and into the senate and house chambers. I guess we could have walked into the governors office as there was no security when we walked by . But we heard later the Governor is packing so we would have needed to be careful walking right in on him.

Plenty of beautiful marble all over the place.

Overall it was a great day outside in Boise.

We stayed at the Grove Hotel, a short walk to the Julia Davis Park and Rose garden. We also stopped and visited the Boise Art Museum, immediately west of the rose garden along Capitol Street, A very nice stop for no cost at either the art museum or rose garden that day.

Lots of marble! Lots of history. Did I mention the marble?! It's a big, old building that has been refurbished. They did a nice job but I don't think your missing anything if you don't get to see it.

The restoration of the Idaho Capital Building is first class. They matched the stone perfectly, the underground addition fits seamlessly with the original building. We visit capital buildings all across the US and this one is a stand-out. There are not many murals or paintings but the stone and architecture of the building can stand alone without them.

Gorgeous architecture, great visit for families and out of town visitors. Don't forget to check out the museum and gifts shop in the basement
