This hotel is off of Vista right before you get into downtown Boise. The hotel is tucked off in a corner behind another larger TownSuites hotel. You have to make several jogs just to get to the lobby parking. I was in #313 which is "in the back" with the frontdoor sided up to a neighboring fence. I travel alone (female) on business and while not necessarily weary, I am cautious of my surroundings. 313 made me even more aware, especially the way it was just tucked around back -- sort of strange. Even funnier, when I checked in, I was asked if I wanted a room near the lobby, so they gave me 313....just fyi, it wasn't near the lobby at all.
Another interesting dynamic was trying to jocky your car into the parking spaces in front of the building is a challenge. Don't know whether it was just "big truck" week at the RI or that the parking lot on that side of the hotel is that small (or if the dumpster is always there). Either way, getting your car into one of the few spaces takes some maneuvering.
I can't say the room was bad, but it wasn't comfortable either. It appears they've done some remodeling, as the TV was a flat screen, the bed appeared new (and it was comfortable), the couch had stains, but other then that, the walls were really bare, as in cheap hotel bare. I don't like to be critical of hotels, but this one had me not feeling comfortable at all. I travel to Boise alot for business, and I have been trying out different hotels (Marriotts and Hiltons) - this RI won't be repeated for me. I would've rather maybe stayed at the nicer/larger TownSuites in the front. There are a couple of restaurants you can walk to, but none to rave about (Elmers, Pizza Hut and an italian sandwich joint) -- all are nothing more then convenient, close.
I need to assure I've said something nice about this hotel -- the room was nice size and the bathroom (though very bare) was roomy, the morning breakfast was hot and had several choices.
