We eat at Capone's at least twice a month. The food has always been good and the "Sports Bar" atmosphere is uplifting. Last night was the same restaurant, very different food. We were seated immediately and the server took our order in a reasonable time. The "Idaho Nachos", which is our usual starting place was........lacking. The appetizer was just barely warm when it arrived. What little cheese they reluctantly placed on the potatoes had already started to harden. Normally, the Idaho Nachos arrive piping hot with a generous helping of melted cheese atop along fresh diced tomatoes and green onions. There was a little gob of cheese in the middle of the pile of cross cut potatoes, but very lacking. When done right, the Idaho Nachos are just plain scrumptious! The pizza came and was basically tasteless. How you can do that to a roasted garlic chicken pizza is a mystery! The thin crust was over cooked to the point of almost burnt. We each had a piece and boxed it to go. ( Lovely wifey actually got some parmesan cheese from the store to flavor up the leftovers.).
Just another note. I went to the men's room and upon entering it was dark. A newly installed motion detection light switch had been installed along with come CFM light bulbs. Well, the bulbs never came completely on, leaving me stand there in a pink glow. ( In colder climates if you do not get instant start florescent light rated for cold temperatures, the light will not completely illuminate..for a long time). This one was not well thought out.
We will give Capone's a rest and try it again in a few months to see if their food has improved.
