We went to Tacloban and stayed in Cielo Vista for a friend's wedding. This is also where the preparation happened the day before. So we have the place practically to ourselves. I would give 2 thumbs up for the location because it is not far off from the airport. This also means you dont have to hurry going to the airport during tight situations. Jeepneys are available if you are comfortable with public transportation. It is far from noise if you prefer to have a quiet place, and short travel going to the downtown where all of the buzz are happening. Just don't be surprise if you stay out late at night and have to rent tricycle going back home, the price for transportation ranges from 100-150 pesos good bargaining skills will be required. If you want to swim by the beach you can walk-in the resort in front of the Pension house.
The rooms are well maintained, air-conditioning is good, cable is available, safety is also good. I just hope they have thick dark curtains, it is too bright when sunrise comes, and for times you just want to sleep longer it does not look appealing. The staff knows how to speak Tagalog and a little bit of English so you wont have to worry about language barrier. There is breakfast too but not enough for the hearty eater. I suggest buy bread or sausages, juice from the supermarket. You can store it in the refrigerator. Just like any pension house - you feel like you are home. The value is a little bit 100-200 pesos expensive for B&B.
