We booked this hotel and made the mistake of not double cheking its location, the hotel is in venice but not on the main Island, it is in Lido wich is kind of the back island.

Venice has like a water metro and transport is easy but the station is a 10 minutes walk.

The hotel is an old big house, its forniture is old but thats its charm. Service was good, an avergae breakfast.

Internet is not free, you can park you car outside.

For the price and if you dont mind walking the hotel is good.

This hotel was a lovely surprise for us with a huge room and views over the lagoon to the centre of Venice. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and the breakfast was first class.
This hotel is on the island of Lido which is out of the centre of Venice and away from the crowds. You can take a ferry which will stop at all the stops into Venice or you can take the ferry that is express. I believe that you can get a ticket whereupon you can get on and off the ferry and sightsee all day but this would have to be confirmed.
However if you want to have some peace and quiet, nice views, pretty little beach in a boutique hotel that has a lovely restaurant and great rooms then this is for you. It is across the road from the water and they have restaurant tables inside and outside.

I've always liked this chic little hotel on the northern end of the Venice Lido. Although it's part of Best Western it has a degree of autonomy and still conveys the impression of being a privately owned set-up, just as it was when it was founded in the high days of the 1920s. One of the great Venetian experiences is watching the sun set over Venice and the Euganean hills in the far distance. The garden restaurant and bar of the Mabapa is a superb vantage point from which to do this - the trick is to grab a bottle of prosecco and consume it on the Mabapa's private landing stage, just across the street from the hotel entrance. That done, dine in the outdoor restaurant - great set menu and impressive fish dishes a la carte.

Got a v.good internet price for this hotel and very impressed as it has only recently been refurbished to a v.high standard. Lido is 20 mins by water taxi from St Mark's Square, Venice, but is also a fine destination in itself with nice restaurants, cafes, walks and views of Venice. Definitely recommended. Map provided by website not at all clear for finding the hotel - all you need to do is get off the waterbus and turn left, walking along the seafront for about ten minutes then it's on your right.

Front desk staff were not helpful with information about their patch, they just handed us a map and that was that! The room we finally accepted was just OK but some rooms were definitely of a very low standard,ie. smelly, cramped, damp, noisy. I agree with their advertising that they are close to the car ferry but what they don't tell you is that they are a good 1/2 hour walk from the restaurants etc,. They also stretch the truth when they mention onsite parking as there approx 5 car spaces for about 70 rooms and street parking is impossible in summer, we had to park about 15 minutes away. Breakfast is just OK but they need to keep the hot food hot! If you need internet access be prepared to pay dearly for it!! During a 2 month trip of Italy and Greece this was by far the worst hotel we stayed in. There was nothing to like about this hotel it was just adequate and certainly not value for money, in fact I would go as far as to say it was a rip off.

Hotel VIlla Mabapa was my first ever experience of a hotel in Italy. In March 2010 I traveled to Italy for 8 days with a big school group and needless to say it was unforgettable. After an exhausting flight, we got off the vaporetto from VCE and stepped onto Lido. We walked to the hotel, very accesible to the island. The courtyard entry to Villa Mabapa showcases the true charm of the hotel. A small yet quaint restaurant served full breakfast each morning with yogurts, cereal, various pastries, coffee, juice, etc. The room my arrangement had was also very nice. There were three of us to a room and again, each one had a bed. The wood flooring was especially nice. The best part about our room was the cute courtyard that our windows opened out to. We liked it cold in our room so we opened the windows each night. One night a lonely cat jumped in the window and slept at our feet and then left at sunrise. A lovely little memory of Lido :)

Only stay here if you get it cheap. I wanted to stay on Lido, away from the lunacy of Venice, which is 10 minutes away on the waterbus (vaporetti).

Check in was ok. We got dumped in the annexe at rear of hotel, which although fairly quiet was a shockingly poorly fitted out L-shaped room.

Breakfast room was horrendous. Total mess, disorganised, food also inedible,

Surrounding area: don't eat at any of the restaurants on the front at Lido. You will get ripped off £40 or €45 per person for a lunch meal and half a bottle of wine. Go over to Venice where it's cheaper.

WiFi price is a rip off. MacDonald's in over in Cannaregio, Venice next to the Ca'Doro Vaporetto boat stop is the answer for non-rip-off-priced breakfast, with (!) free WiFi.

If this place is a four star, then I am Father Christmas.
