I spent a week in Lido at the hotel Riviera, and I had the best time! Hotel is across the street from the ferry, on the main street to the beach. I spent every morning on the beach and all the afternoons "ferryhopping" the other islands.

Staff on the reception is lovely and helpfull. The hotel is a beautiful old building - with it´s limits, bathrooms may be little small etc.

Try to get a room with a balcony!

We spent one night in this hotel, the location is very good, the Lido is much more quiet than Venice "city center", you can reach it (eg:san Marco area) in 15 minutes by boat, the vaporetto station is just in front of the hotel. The Lido beaches are walking distance, nice to relax after walking all day in the city. The rooms are quite small ( like everywhere in Venice ), and would need a big refurbishment. The staff members were OK but not as friendly as read in other reviews... breakfast pretty good. The Riviera is not a bad adress to stay, I recommend it for the location, but it's just overpriced.

Room Tip: Lagoon view is a must, to see Venice through the windows, gorgeous at sunrise :)

This hotel is a gem, staff are lovely, breakfast great and top location. If you factor in boat costs to visit Venice for a few days plus Murano and Buranno but also go to the excellent bars, restaurants and beach on the Lido you are on a winner. Best of all worlds! Also you can bike the whole Lido in a day for less than 20 euro and its beautiful.

The hotel is situated on the beautiful Lido island right next to the ferry boat station, so the old town of Venice is very easily reachable. The hotel staff tried their best, but the facilities were bit poor. Rooms are pretty old and not all rooms have well functioning air conditioning. The breakfast was decent but not better than average. Next time, we will certainly try some other hotel at Lido. Hotel has a parking area, but we didn't get a place since it was at time fully booked. Parking was though possible on the streets nearby.

Room Tip: Not every room has a modern air condition device. The first room we were offered was very moist and...

We used as a base to visit Venice, we had a family room which in truth was pretty small but adequate for a few nights. Hotel decor was lovely, dare I say Art Deco? Breakfast spread was superb with friendly staff, as we're the reception. There are not many restaurants to choose from within the immediate area but as said for a few nights perfect. Would be very happy to go back.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times. the last time was in June 2006 (before I knew about Trip Advisor). The hotel has a lovely quaint feel to it and was very reasonably priced for venice. It is on Venice Lido, so it is out of venice proper enough to be a bit more peaceful and reasonable, but close enough to visit whenever you want. Just a water bus ride away from st. Marks Square. Hotel close to water bus stops. Walk down the main road and you are at the beach. Best of both worlds. Room was lovely with a lagoon view and had air conditioning. Breakfast was great too. Plenty of restaurants near by. Buy a 3-day water bus ticket and you can ride up and down the grand canal to your hearts content. Island of Burano is well worth a visit. Would happily go back again. Love Venice and this Hotel!

I choose this hotel because it was only one stop on the ACTV from the Biennale and was cheaper than hotels on the main island. First timers to Venice should know though that the rides on the water bus add up (both with money and time) and in the end it was probably a wash to stay on the other side of the lagoon.

As for the positives, breakfast was amazing. They had everything you could have wanted, and I was able to skip lunch because I was so full from breakfast. Most of the staff was pleasant, though the night desk-man was very rude and unaccommodating when I asked for a second pillow (after calling down twice and waiting for over an hour, I changed back into my clothes to go downstairs to retrieve one. Though I was told on the phone I would "Have to wait as he had other guests at the desk" when I asked him for a time estimate he hung up on me. When I went downstairs he was chatting away to his colleague and was unapologetic)

In the end it was the room that would keep me from coming back. The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows flat as a pancake (see above). My room did have working AC, but it was also incredibly noisy. This is not a place to stay if you have allergies. The room is heavily perfumed right down to the toilet paper, I had to leave the windows open all day and run the AC all night to try and get the smell down. The price of Wifi was astronomical so I stuck to eating at cafes that gave you free access.

Though I could let the one slip in customer service go, whats the point in paying that much for an uncomfortable bed and a long waterbus ride? Unless you're staying in Lido to be on Lido, I would recommend finding a place on the other side of the Lagoon.
