“Fine Hotel in Lido, a boat ride from Venice”
Reviewed 5 June 2006

Just like other reviewers said, it was just a fine boat ride from central Venice by vaporetto. If you get the 72 hr. transportation card, all public transport is included. Lido is a perfect place for those wanting to get away from all the hustle and bustle of a tourist core. The hotel is located on the main drag, just about 3 blocks from the vaporetto station (no hills on the island). It was nice because you can reserve online and pay via credit card. also includes a private bathroom which is a gem in budget accommodations in Europe. The hotel doesn't have a lift, so be prepared to lift you own luggage up the stairs. They only have 1 hair dryer, so you have to borrow it from the front desk when you want to use it - no problem. Breakfast was effecient (included), of fresh rolls with hazelnut spread (Nutella imitation that was fine). The coffee is despensed out of one of those nescafe machines, which is mas o menos. a fine stay.

A group of 15 Conamara people syed at Hotel Reiter on the May Bank Holiday weekend. Everyone in the group found the hotel a nice place to stay. It is unpretensious but friendly and comfortable. The manager (Fabio) was very flexible and accomodating, as we needed to make some changes in types of rooms, from singles to doubles etc.
The location is great. The Lido itself is a very nice place, completely different to Venezia.
Overall we would recommend it to anyone......unless you are a bit of a fusser and have nothing to do with your time but go on the internet.

Me and my girlfriend have just returned from Venice and had a great time! The Hotel Reiter was lovely, especially considering how cheap it was. When we asked for a double room, the smiley guy at the desk asked, "United or seperate?" which was quite funny. We actually got a quad room so the bathroom was lovely and big - i'd stay there again just for the power shower!!
We got stung when we first arrived off the bus from the airport as we followed a crowd and ended up on a private boat over to San Marco. You need to go to the ACTV water bus station which is behind the auto bus station to get the public bus - its a lot cheaper and if you get the 51 or 52 bus, will take you straight to Lido.
There is a nice bar in Lido called Star People and the owner, Luca is lovely (if you go, say Hi from Lindsey and Jo) - we went there every night. Its just around the corner from the hotel (ask for the Chinese and you'll find it there). All in all, a really lovely stay and would highly recommend to all!

My wife and I booked into the Reiter for a long weekend in December. The hotel was cheap ~24 GBP per night for two adults, so we were expecting a bit of a dump.
We were pleasantly surprised by the place. It’s a very basic hotel, but it’s clean, and the staff were friendly and approachable. Our room contained a double bed, TV, wardrobe, bedside tables, and an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet, and sink. The furniture was a bit worn, but the bed was comfy. The room was also warm, which is important during the Venetian winter!
The breakfast was a basic cold buffet with breads, cereal, jam, butter, and tea, coffee, and fruit juice. It was more than we expected for the price we were paying.
The hotel itself is ideally situated on the Lido, being a few hundred metres from the main vaporetto stop on the Lido. There are a few good bars and resteraunts close by, and the beach is just up the road too.

Once again, excellent value for money (in winter at least!). Recommended

Plus points - good location close to Vaporetta stop. Ten minutes by boat to the Grand Canal and St Mark's Square. Excellent directions and travel details given on the Venere website. Reasonable prices for Venice. Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast.

Minus points - Mould on ceiling of bathroom. Hot - no air conditioning, although a table fan is provided. Our room was noisy - there is an amusement arcade next door.

Me and my cousin stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Rooms were clean and spacious. I couldn't believe how pleasant it was because it was such a reasonable price! And an extra bonus for us - because we were on the top floor, we had air conditioning! But beware, there are only 2 rooms in the whole place with air con - we were lucky.
Breakfast was fine. Internet stations didn't work, bar one. But it was great to have free internet access in our hotel!
It was only a short, pleasant ride away from Venice. In fact, it was nice to be away from the huge crowds in the evenings. And of course the beach is very near to this hotel, at the end of the road!
Compared to the other hotels we'd stayed in which were the same price, this hotel is excellent!
Would definitely reccommend it.
