“Overpriced and over rated. Appalling food and service.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2011

This hotel has potential to be grand but the finish is quite cheap ie hairdryers, bedding, tinned fruit at breakfast. The restaurant and half board are completely overpriced and the half board menu is appalling and a total con - it doesn't say anywhere when you book that the choice of half board food is just 2 straters, 2 main courses and one dessert - it doesn't even cater for non pork or seafood eaters, so perhaps some religions aren't welcome? If you manage to get a deal where the room is below 90 euros per night, maybe risk it but otherwise go elsewhere. There are plenty of good quality more reasonably priced hotels and restaurants on the Lido so just visit the Albergo for a drink and photo oppurtunity.

This hotel is not quite as grand as it believes it is. Minor details like inefficient hairdryers that are attached to the bathroom wall and burn your hand and cheap blankets spoil otherwise lovely rooms but what lets it down most is the restaurant and it's waiting staff. Firstly, nowhere on it's website does it make clear that half board means you have to choose from a VERY limited menu - 2 starters, 2 mains and one dessert - but the head waiter actually cut off mid sentence to serve other customers when my husband stated we were half board. We were treated with disdain and felt marginalised and patronised and the food quality was by far the worst we ate anywhere in Italy. One night my main course consisted of 4 scampi with some boiled carrots - not exactly fine dining or worth the 65 euros we paid for it. We then had to ask for our dessert after 25 minutes and when it came it was a cheap quality cake with 2 segments of tinned pineapple in it. I'm not a fussy eater and we are a very tolerant, well travelled and laid back couple but our stay there was ruined by the attitude of waiting staff and the manager. The manager eventually offered a 30 euro refund if we didn't eat there on our second night but, despite keeping us waiting, we never actually got to meet him or her. If this hotel had a change of waiting staff and chef, it could be one of the great hotels but my suggestion is to visit there, take photos of the fantastic outside, enjoy a cocktail on the beautiful terrrace then walk over the road to one of the many restaurants there. Breakfast was ok but the reception and breakfast staff were lovely.

Room Tip: Take your own hairdryer and ask for a top floor corner room - brilliant view over the lagoon.

We spent only 24 hours on Venice Lido island, but enjoyed both the hotel and place itself.
The hotel looks great inside and outside, rooms (we had 207) are huge and very convenient, all staff members are friendly and ready to help.
We would recommend this hotel for those who prefers calmer enviroment while having all the possibilities to admire Venice, which is only 20 min. (St. Mark's Sq) public boat ride distance. Besides food and drinks are twice cheaper here. And very nice beach is very close to the hotel also! So enjoy it as we did!

I booked a room at this hotel and it was meant to be a special treat for my husband and myself whilst travelling around. I splashed out and booked us a junior suite which based on the website photos and cost I thought would be exceptional and comfortable and be up to the standard of other hotels.

When we arrived the first room we were shown was horrendouse, it had yellow and blue spriped wallpaper and looked dirty, we complained and were shown a second room, which did not have the "modern" wallpaper but was very dark with hard looking furniture. We complained again and were eventually shown an unmade room which was the junior suite originally booked, this was an improvement on the others but not like the photos.

I paid €180 euros a night for this room and I think it was too much and I was not happy as the room did not repsent what we saw on the website.

If you are driving you need to factor in the cost of ferry from the mainland which is about €35 each way and then the the cost of the waterbuses which was another €25 each. With these additional costs it may be best to park outside venice, get a train in and stay central and save some money on ferrys and waterbuses which you could then use on having a nice room. Don't be mistaken at thinking that because it is not main Venice that you won't be ripped off at bars - because we did

Breakfast was not brillant but ok. The exterior of the building is beautiful and the bar is good.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Many guests took photos of the exterior of the hotel because it was so impressive. The friendly hotel staff spoke English and were very well trained. They went above and beyond to please.
There was a good selection of food for breakfast .We had dinner in the Quarti restaurant with its refined ambiance one night. The art on the walls was impressive. The food was very tasty and the waiters were excellent. There are good cafes and restaurants a short walk from the hotel if you don't want to eat dinner at the hotel.
The bedroom was very clean and we slept well.We had free internet. All we had to do was ask reception for a password which lasted two hours.Extra time is available by asking for another password when the first one expires.
We had a pleasant stay in this elegant hotel.

This hotel has class (liberty architectural style, nice furniture from the late 19th century, colorful facade made of tiles forming dancing figures). People at the front desk were professional and kind. My room and bathroom were large, functional and well decorated. Nice small garden with fountain in the frontyard of the hotel. Great value in comparison to Venice (less than half the price for the same category). Conveniently located at 3 minutes walk from Santa maria elisabetta vaporetti, in a large street with other beautiful buildings and villas.. Another plus is a Billa supermarket at 1 minute walking. The only disappointment is breakfast, definitely not at the level of everything else. Did not try the spa. I would definitely go back.

The room was quirky and fun having a very sloped high ceiling. It was a large room even though we had only booked a standard.
The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
The breakfast was the usual faire of cheese, meat, bread, cereal and fruit.
The hotel looked stunning and very cool on the outside.
The Lido is the best place to stay in Venice be sure to rent a two person or family bike to explore the island.
There was a spa in the hotel but we did not use it.

Room Tip: The standard room was a very good room.
