“Nice hotel on the Lido”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

The Atlanta Augustus Hotel is situated in a quiet street beside the canal just 5 minutes from the water bus/airport bus stop. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. The hotel was kept very clean and the linen and towels were immaculate. The staff at reception were all very helpful and spoke excellent English. The room was very comfortable and my room had a large terrace with table and chairs and swing. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was fine albeit no hot food but there was a lovely selection of pastries. The Lido is a good base for a trip to Venice and it is ever so easy to get around on the water buses. We purchased a 3 day ticket for 35 euros which was excellent value.

Room Tip: Room 308 had a large terrace area with table and chairs and hammock swing.

Was so pleased with the stay in Lido and Atlanta Augustus, from the cute Little balcony overlooking a small Canal, to the fact that it was SO quiet compared to the Tourist areas in Venice. The beds were fantastic and the pillows memory foam and extra wide... Clean and spacious for what we paid (booking only the day before the trip!) The staff was SO friendy and with perfect English skills! The breakfast was good, not the best but I was already looking forward to lunch anyway ;) With only a 20 min boat ride to St Marc´s Square (costing 35 Euro for 3 whole days) it was definately the "best" part of the trip-being able to sleep well after the long exciting days in Venice! Also, it is a 5 minute walk to Lido beach,if you fancy a dip in the Mediterranian sea. It is 2 minutes walk to a big supermarket where you can buy tasty mozzarella, sausages and wine to enjoy in your balcony!

We where a group of friends Eight people and had five rooms, including one at the penthouses.
We enjoyed the stay for three days and visited the lagoon island and Venice by Vaporetto and transfers by watertaxies and Alilagoona from the hotel. The staff was delightful especialy Roberta
at the desk, she helped us with any question we had. Breakfast was good. The hotel is planning to redo the entrance and bar area, with more seating for there guests. All in all almost a four star
privately owned hotel.

Room Tip: The room on the penthouse are great and reasonable. All rooms are very quiet.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in May. The hotel is in a beautiful building in a very nice and quiet location, very close to everything - shops, restaurants, waterbuses. the room we had was good size, no balcony, but French window overlooking the canal. No toiletries. Hairdryer provided.
Breakfast very basic Italian with cereals and pastries, no meat or fresh fruit and the same every day. lovely garden terrace outside to have breakfast or evening drink.
Good value for money.
there are direct water buses going to Lido from the airport operated by Alilaguna, blue or red line, takes about an hour and cost 27eur return.

The hotel is very nice with water taxi service outside the front door. They have a small sitting area outside that is like a small garden as well as an inside sitting area. The hotel itself is small but we found it to be very comfortable and the staff was very pleasant and helpful with our questions and needs. They were able to make arrangements for a water taxi the next day to get us to the cruise ship for our trip. The rooms were very nice and comfortable, with typical European sized bathrooms. In the morning we had breakfast which was included in the price of the room and there was a variety of breads, cereals, different juices and a coffee machine which would produce latte, cappuccino, etc. They also had an assortment of cold meats and cheeses, overall a very good continental breakfast. We were only there for a short night and part of the morning, but there is shopping and restaurants close as well.

Visited Venice for the first time in May 2013, bought 3 day saver vaporetto tickets at the ticket machine in the airport and took the airport shuttle to the terminal in Venice. Luckily we only had hand luggage for our two night stay on the Lido as negotiating all those bridges and steps would have been a pain with heavy suitcases. Vaporetto tickets need to be validated by the machine situated at each stop before you board, instructions are provided in English etc.
On arrival at the hotel we were given a complementary upgrade to a penthouse room, the domed ceiling beautifully decorated with a mural, small but functional and clean bathroom with spa bath and shower, bidet etc. Comfy bed, free safe , plenty of storage and satellite tv. The large wrap around balcony overlooking a canal was drenched in sun and a great place to people watch.
The self service continental breakfast consisted of cheese, cooked meats, boiled eggs , yoghurt, cereals, brioche and delicious pastries etc. The coffee was good and it was a delight to sit and eat in the small garden, surrounded by roses and fruit trees, soaking up the early morning sun. Would we return? Oh yes it was wonderful, and great to get away from the bustle of Venice.
Not wanting to touch the mini bar in case it cost a fortune, we purchased drinks and pizza from the local deli at a very reasonable price. Lots of cafe bars and places to eat on the Lido also much cheaoer than Venice and we enjoyed hopping on and off the water busses.
A vaporetto trip in the evening from Piazalle Roma along the Grand Canal in the evening is a must , as you board you will see either outside seating areas at the front or through glass doors at the rear, make a beeline for the best views.
You can pre purchase tickets for attractions otherwise queues are long and with great weather we enjoyed exploring all the back streets . In the cafes it is very expensive to sit outside especially in St Marks Square, less expensive to sit inside or as the locals do, much cheaper to stand at the bar/counter to eat and drink. We got royally ripped off for an unremarkable meal in a canal side restaurant, but the view and ambience were worth it.

Room Tip: Attic penthouse rooms a must.

Stayed for 5 nights in Aug, the hotel was a lovely older style building, very large rooms with balcony. The staff were very friendly, let us leave our bags until room was ready, as we arrived early. The room was clean and had a large bathroom with shower, plenty of room for 3 of us. a balcony on the front and side, overlooking a canal. Plenty of breeze when both windows were open. B+B option was good, with pastries and juice, coffee, tea. Two mins from main street where you can find resturants, bars, and shops. Also a couple of supermarkets nearby. Ten mins from the beach, and vaperetto. Good night sleep, very quiet. Will be returning again, as we enjoyed so much.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front have balcony and view of canal.
