Here are some tips if you decide to stay at this hotel, which is excellent, by the way.

1. Take the water taxi to Lido... from the Venice train station, take taxi #51 (~40 minutes).
2. When you arrive, take a right out of the water taxi station and walk along the main street. It'll take around 8 minutes to get to the hotel, which is probably about the same if you take a taxi. Walk along the main street and cross a bridge. The second street on the left will be via Dandolo then take a left. The hotel will be on the right, a tall white building.
3. A few restaurants worth mentioning... Trattoria Andri (on via Lepanto) is an excellent restaurant that movie stars and locals frequent (take a right out of the hotel, cross a bridge, take a right onto via Lepanto, walk about 3 minutes and the restaurant is on the left). Restaurants at the end of the block from the hotel is good too (take a right out of the hotel, the restaurant is located on the left just after the bridge). The restaurant just before the bridge looks packed at night, probably good too.

My review of the hotel... I had a great experience. The host was very friendly and was super helpful. We received a free upgrade to a bigger room, which included a little sitting room with a sofa. The bathroom is prototypical European, super tiny but functional. The breakfast was really good, quite a variety for such a small place. The location of the hotel is very good, only about a 8-10 minute walk from the water taxi station and 1-2 minutes from restaurants / main street. Very convenient but super quiet at night. The AC worked well. Free wifi was great.

Lido Island is a 10 minute water taxi ride from Venice itself... It is quiet and seems to be more local... It is not packed wall to wall with tourists, which we loved. We didn't have enough time but I think exploring the entire Lido Island would be fun (local beach, fishing village).

We stayed five night at this hotel and it was great. Deluxe room had plenty of room, ac worked well and there is charming tower for views of Venice. On top of all this it is an easy walk from the vaporetto and main street.

The breakfast is okay but remember Venice ships in a lot of it's food so it is mostly packaged stuff - adequate though. And why would you want a heavy hot breakfast in this heat?

Service was also great and reception is helpful.

We will return.

If you are going to Venice and want a great stay, this is the place for you. Located on The Lido, a short vaporetta ride from the main part of Venice, this former private palace gives you the feel of staying in an authentic Venice palace but in a quiet, tree lined street within very easy walking distance to restaurants, stores (including Billa - the Italian grocery store where you can purchase wine, water, food, etc.) and the beach! Staying at the Villa Delle Palme you are staying in the middle of an upscale neighbourhood and you get the authentic Venice experience plus as beautiful as the main island is, it is great to escape the wall-to-wall tourists and take the vaporetta back to The Lido. Make sure you make the trip up to the roof top terrace for fantastic views and get the hotel staff's recommendations for some local restaurants. If you are going, buy the vaporetta pass for unlimited access for whatever period you choose. Also it is easy to get the water ferry (not water taxi unless you want to spend more money) from the airport to The Lido. (To the left when you exit the airport - all boats leave from the same location.)

We know (and love) Venice and on this visit back to the old country chose to stay in the Lido - as it's actually like being in Italy, with real locals, unlike Venice itself, which is a wonder of the world, great to visit, but very quiet at night and overrun by tourists by day. Loved the location on the Lido as it’s right near the boat to St Marks.

We had a very small room, it was booked for 3 adults to share (elderly parent and two grown up siblings), but one of us could not come - and that was a good thing! Apart from that, staff very nice, villa had great character, location was excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for a large room!

This is a small, lovely hotel converted from a private mansion. Our room was large, clean and comfortable, and a great value for the price. The staff were friendly, and gave us a great restaurant suggestion. The Lido is a 10 minute vaporetto ride to St. Mark's, so is a quiet, relaxing location. However, the hotel is close to restaurants, bars, and markets. I would certainly stay again.

I liked this small buy lovely hotel. The staff was warm. They gave me a very good map of the city to use. Though it is on Lido I loved the location. Lido itself is a small and calm island with a public beach. The free internet was a bit slow but served my purpose. I liked the breakfast too. My room had a balcony though I did not use if because of the weather. The decoration was very pleasant.

The only thing that bothered me is that my room was a bit too cold even after the heating.

I returned to this hotel for the 3rd time and having not been here for more than 3 years, was concerned it may have deteriorated. It was as lovely as I recall though!
Among our arty were 2 disabled family members and I made sure at the time of booking that I mentioned this to Alberto & Stefano, the owners/managers. The 2 relatives concerned were given ground floor rooms so they didn't have to worry about the stairs (there is no lift), one of which has a huge bathroom with walk-in shower with seat, grab rails etc.
All rooms are beautiful- some are smaller than others but the smaller rooms tend to have big balconies so you gain anyway.
The showers are rather snug, as others have mentioned, but they do the job fine.
Breakfast is standard Italian fare- rolls, croissants, cakes, boiled eggs, cereal, juice, coffee or tea, ham, cheese etc. One morning there were very few rolls as the delivery man hadn't turned up so we ate extra croissants- not a hardship!
There's a little bar in the reception where you can get a drink or a cup of tea or coffee made for you.
The tower at the very top of the hotel is a lovely place to sit and have a glass of prosecco whilst watching the sun setting. In fact, my other half was so carried away with the romance of the place that he proposed... of course i said yes!
I really wouldn't stay anywhere else and personally, prefer the Lido to staying on Venice as the boat trip over to St Marks is such a pleasure in itself. I always feel safe walking around Lido, even late at night & there are some reasonably priced bars and restaurants which are really lovely. The beach is lovely too!
