When towels get threadbare, you could replace them. Or, like this Hotel, PATCH THEM! I kid you not! We were scheduled to stay 5 nights. Europe is big on using shower towels for a couple days in a row, so our habit at all the locations we stayed at, was to get clean towels every other day. They say if you throw the towel on the floor they'll replace it with a clean one, otherwise hang it up. I tossed my towel on the floor after using it twice, and when we got back that evening the towel HAD to be the same one, all folded up and placed on the rack as if it were clean. When you see a thread bear towel with patches over holes, you just know if it's the same one. And they picked it up off the floor and acted as if it were washed?

I mean come on, what are the chances of getting the same towel? The bed was hard as a rock. I like a firm bed, but this was bad. No box spring, just a very firm mattress on a frame with slats of wood to hold it up. Next, it was October, not exactly the hottest time of the year, but since the sun beat on the windows from the west all afternoon the room was still stifling when we got back after 10 pm. The AC couldn't get the room any cooler than 84 degrees, and that by morning! (29 Celsius)

We tried to open the windows and let the evening breeze in, but the neighbors had a dog barking ALL night long, and we were awakened each time someone up stairs used water. You'll have to take a water bus to and from the main islands. We knew that going in, but the place looked so cute, we thought it would be worth it.

We got up at 8:00 am the first day there and ordered some Cafe Americano, hot. We left at 10:00 am to go find our own coffee! The staff could not have been any less helpful if they tried. Their recommendations for restaurants were terrible and by then I was so fed up that I was suspicious the restaurant owners were friends of theirs. I'd tell my ex wife to stay there!

The location on Lido was both a blessing and a curse. This was a nice escape from the heaving masses of Venice, though the 20 minute vaporetto ride over to Lido in the peak of summer about killed us. The hotel has a lovely reception area, nice, comfortable rooms, great air cond, and functional bathrooms. There is no discernible elevator, so the place would not be disabled friendly as most, if not all rooms are at least one floor above. The beds were firm but not painful. We sat in the tower at night in the cool evening and surveyed Venice, it was like we had the place to ourselves. The breakfast was unremarkable, standard cereal, bread and coffee/tea.

It looks just like the pictures! Beautiful and clean! Very romantic. It was a little small and even though our room was right off the lobby it was still very quiet!
There is a small elecant dinning room off the lobby where they have a very nice breakfast in the morning.
Would defanitly recommend, esp to couples! It was a short walk in either direction to the water taxi's and short walk in the other direction to the center of the island with plenty of nice resturants!

To my mind Villa delle Palma provides good accommodation at an excellent price. The hotel is in a grand house complete with tower which you can climb.
There are always pros and cons in staying outside Venice itself but for us the Lido provided a break from the melee of Venice. My room although smallish had a balcony which was great for sitting out. My friends room was considerably larger but no balcony - you take your pick.
Can't really fault it, the staff were excellent and helpful. It is only a 5 minute walk from the port.

The wife, our three young kids and myself stayed here for a couple of nights and found it friendly, charming and very helpful from our initial email enquiries to leaving with a smile on our face.
Breakfast was fine. our room comfortable and clean - important with three young children and the staff always courteous and willing to help.
The location was great - just a 5 minute walk from the Lido water bus and close to a few good restaurants and the main shopping area.
Views were great from the viewing terrace - kids loved that.
No real gripes - OK the bathroom wasn't cavernous but perfectly acceptable for our family of five and we were hard pushed to find anything that could accommodate all of us in one room in Venice.
Easily a good recommendation.

My husband and I were in Venice for a week for performances, and decided to cap off the trip with 2 days in Lido to celebrate our anniversary. We were quite pleased with this hotel -- for starters, the staff was very friendly and helpful, especially at the front desk and breakfast room. We loved the rooftop terrace and our room came with its own private balcony as well. Those on here who complained about the smallness of the bathrooms (in general) probably have never been to Europe before. We loved the quiet area which was so close to downtown Lido, and really enjoyed strolling the streets, The concierge even recommended a restaurant for us and booked the cab as well, which was great. The breakfasts were really nice and the eating room quite pleasant. We were totally satisfied with out stay and would definitely come back.

I have stayed in Villa delle Palme last week-end, and must say that I was somewhat disappointed...I was very confident when I made the reservation, because of the various good reviews I read here, however there are two aspects of Villa delle Palme I did not enjoy.
First let me say that it is truw that the hotel is located in a quiet place, near to the Vaporetto stop, the room we had was indeed clean, and the size was ok. One thing which was not specified in the bookng was that the "standard" double room we booked was not "standard", since it had a bathroom for people with special needs, which made it less confortable for us to use...I asked for a room change but it was obviously impossible, because the hotel was fully booked, so the receptionist told us. The breakfast is another negative point: we arrived at 9.40, serving stopped at 10.30 on Sunday, when we got there (we weren't the last guests), the bread had finished, there 2 slices left of salami and cheese for the savoury things, and only a couple of croissants. We asked the only person who was doing the breakfast service for some bread, she first said she was sorry but they didn't have any anymore. When we clearly showed big disappointment and surprise (well maybe indignation), she asked for a few minutes, after that she came back with 4 small panini, which had gone from freezer to oven. In the meantime another couple of guests had arrived, and decided to recycle coffee, tea, and even a croissant leftover from other tables, since noone was there to attend them! They definitely need more people to work there, and more food for breakfast, where the overall choice was rather limited. Considering the prices in Venice, what we paid (80€ for 1 night) was still ok, but I was disappointed...and think the ranking here is way too high!

  • Liked — ambiente
  • Disliked — Breakfast and service generally, plus they would charge you 3€ for 15 minutes internet in the lounge...
