“Friendly and convenient”
Reviewed 19 September 2012

Arrived via vaporetto from Marco Polo airport.at 10pm. No member of hotel staff present, but Edoardo had already provided details of room number and security access so not a problem. The room was large, clean and very pleasant, although I'd describe the breakfast as adequate rather than good, and the coffee was disappointing. We found the walk from the vaporetto stops hard going with our suitcases, and even without them it was a 10 minute walk, not two as we'd been informed. However it was still very easy to travel into Venice 'proper' and the hotel is very close to the beach for lazier days. Edoardo and his staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Haven't thought about it because ours was fine.

My wife and I spent three nights at the Hotel La Pergola the last week of August 2012. Our experience was great. The hotel manager, Eduardo, had emailed us to explain our options for reaching the Island and how to find the hotel. We did not make it to the hotel until later in the evening (around 8pm), but Eduardo had made all the arrangements for our late check in, and Christine was very cheerful and helpful to us while we got checked in. She actually showed us to our room and explained using the access card for the room and the ammenities.

The Hotel
The hotel was in a romantic alley way about 300 meters from the Grande Via Saint Marielizabeth. The room was pretty spacious for European hotels, clean, and the furniture modern. Breakfast was free, and you could chose between sitting in the lobby area or the comfortable and cozy courtyard shaded by a beautiful grape vine. The free wi-fi was easily accessible throughout the hotel. We were initialy in a room on the ground floor with a private access door to the courtyard. We inquired about changing rooms in order to have a balcony view. Not only did Eduardo check to see if a change was possible, when he was able to make the change, all he asked is that we have our bags packed and set aside in our room. We went out to explore a little. When we came back our room with a balcony overlooking the courtyard was prepared and our bags were in it. All we had to do was switch key cards.

The Beach
We had access to the public beach, which was a short walk (about 200 meters) from the Hotel. Eduardo had arranged a discount for us a one of the beach clubs and even a couple of free drinks. The beach club had a bar, restaurant, umbrella's, lounge chairs, and even full size beach beds with bamboo roofs to get out of the sun if needed.

Waterbus
The Waterbus station was also well within walking distance. Waterbuses ran every 10 minutes to all the stops in across the canal to Venice and all the attraction areas. The waterbus was available all night.

Restaurants and Shopping
On the Grand Via Saint Marielizabeth were plenty of Restaurants, Pizzaria's, Ice Cream shops, Souvinere stands, and tiny bars. Again all just a short walk from the hotel.

I would definitely come back to stay at the Hotel La Pergola the next time we get the chance. The price of the stay, the location of the hotel, and the service of the very friendly and helpful staff made our trip to Lido a very memorable and enjoyble one.

Stayed at La Pergola during 1 week in June 2012.
A pretty hotel and neighborhood. The room was clean,
modern and fitted well my needs.
Good working Air Condition, nice breakfast and a
VERY friendly/helpful staff and manager. Nice with the
possibility to rent a bike at the hotel and the location was
both close to the public beach and the boats to San Marco.
I am glad to recommend this hotel !

My little daughter and I stayed in this hotel for 7 days! There is a remarkable hotel for discovering Venice and to have a beach rest also. The hotel is located very conveniently - 10 minutes by foot to vaporetto station to go to San Marco or other direction and five minutes to public beach. There are a lot of shops, cafes, restaurants around, but hotel is not on the main street, but nearby, in very quiet place. The owner of hotel Edoardo is polite and friendly, speaks English good, manager Christina is a nice girl, speaks English, French, Russian, very sympathetic, she is always ready to help, give advices. Rooms are very clean and accurate, you can have a breakfast at the open terrace. I guess, it is an ideal hotel to travel to Venice and I will recommend it to my friends. I like this hotel very much and I’ll be back! Thanks to all for excellent impressions!

This hotel is beautiful and clean. The owner speaks italian, french and english and is always ready to help his customers. He likes movies and the hotel is full of beautiful pictures. There is a cute place outside to relax and the hotel is close to the beach. Also, it only takes 10 min to walk to the vaporetto station. AND... the coffee is good! Thank you Edoardo! We stayed here for a week, April into May. Lovely hotel! The owner, Edoardo and his staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were given great recommendations for day-trips and superb restaurants to visit. Beautiful beach a few minutes walk away with the Blue Moon serving great food right on the beach.
Great care was given to the cleaning of the room, it was spotless each evening.
Very reasonable rates and it's only 10 mins on the water-bus from St Mark's Square and all the attractions of Venezia
Thank you so much Edoardo for your hospitality, we'll be back!

My wife and I stayed at La Pergola for the last 3 days of April 2012. The hotel is reasonably priced for Venice being on the Lido and is clean and welcoming. We had slight problems in making the receptionist understand the issues we had with our room. This was as much our fault as we speak little Italian...she was lovely and friendly and did all she could be expected to do. The air con in the room only worked for about 2 hours on the 2nd night on probably the warmest weekend of the year so far in Venice so we slept poorly. The room itself was very small which the owner later apologized for but the shower room was very good (it was really a largish single room with 2 single beds squashed in!). The most worrying bit was that the fridge was not working as a fridge, it was a heater! It got so hot on our first night that I unplugged it. The next morning I told the receptionist but she obviously misunderstood (prob thought I didn't know my caldo from fredo) and when the room was cleaned the fridge was plugged back in. When we came back that evening (with no air con) it was too hot to touch and the room unbearable so we had the window wide open...and mozzies! All this could have been avoided if the owner had been available to speak to...he was away for the weekend.
However that lot aside we enjoyed staying on Venice Lido and will do so again next time we go. Its very different from Venice but still has some canals and some beautiful houses and you can find some quite rural and wild bits if you get the bikes out (La Pergola has some to rent out) and go far enough along the island. The roads are pretty quiet off the main drag and it is possible to go to Chioggia at the south end of Venice lagoon. Getting to and from Venice is really easy on the ferries and there is a direct link to the airport as well (its expensive though). We did what we always do and bought a 3 day ACTV pass which enables you to use the ferries and buses and is also by far the cheapest way to get to and from the airport.
We actually found eating out pretty expensive this time (we have not been for about 5 years) and will try to self cater next time. It won't stop us going though as Venice still fab and if you go to the right places at the right time you can be all on your own - try Arsenale/Giardini area and the Dorsoduoro.
