We stayed here for a week in April. The rooms were big, airy and nice with two big windows that you could open. We had a double room but it was in fact two single beds pushed together so they unfortunatelydrifted apart a bit during the night. There was air condition in the rooms but we couldn't figure out whether or not ours was broken as it got very stuffy and hot during the night but too cool in the mornings. We had the windows open a lot instead to cool down the room.
The breakfast in the garden in the morning was really nice: croissants, bread, some sort of lemonade, salami, cheese, ham, coffee/tea and yogurts, however as someone else wrote, the coffee was a bit on the cold side. The owners, especially the lady, were very nice and welcoming. She didn't speak very much English so we had a bit of a hard time communicating sometimes but it worked out.
The location of Villa Angelica was perfect, it's on the island of Lido which was great as we thought it was very crowded and busy in central Venice. Lido is a quiet island, much less tourists, a really nice Main Street with good restaurants and shops. The hotel is very close to the vaparetto (boat-bus) stop.
Overall I would recommend Villa Angelica, great location, friendly staff, good breakfast and reasonably priced.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Villa Angelica is a magnificent building dating from the early nineteen hundreds, located on the enchanting island of Lido di Venezia and just a stone's throw away from the famous Palazzo del Cinema and the beaches. The hotel, that has recently been totally restored, is just a short walk away from where it is possible to board the main water buses that will take you to the historical centre of Venice (St. Mark's Square, the Rialto bridge and the Biennale) and its islands (Murano, Burano, Torcello). Villa Angelica is a small crenellated fortress that, with its refined furnishings, recalls Venice's historical links with the Orient. The building is surrounded by a private park where, when the climate is warmer, it is possible to start your day with a wholesome breakfast, or find total relaxation under the shade of the laurels, palms and bamboos after a day's sightseeing. This friendly and professional family-run establishment is owned by Amedeo and Nicole who, along with their staff, will attend to your every need in order to make you feel totally at home and render your stay in this romantic Hotel as comfortable as possible. ... more less
