Reviewed 16 March 2014

We stayed at le ville del lido in March for 4 nights. Overall we thought the hotel was really good. We had a very nice, relaxing stay and would definitely return to the same hotel if we were to come back to Venice.

The rooms:
The hotel was lovely. Our rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. We had a big double bed which was very comfy! The bathroom was also lovely and clean. Our rooms were cleaned and we were provided with clean towels every day. The only downside to the rooms were that there seemed to be a hot water shortage. The water always started red hot but slowly got colder and colder until after about 10 mins there was no hot water at all. The air con was not working either and was actually blowing out hot air. When we mentioned this to staff we were told it was due to being out of season. This wasn't a problem though as we just opened the windows instead.

Breakfast:
The breakfast was delicious. The croissants and bread were really nice and fresh. Due to being out of season we were given a sheet to order our breakfast the night before and this was brought to our rooms at our chosen time. This suited us quite well. On the first morning we were brought quite a generous portion of 3 croissants, 2 bread rolls and lots of cheese and ham. However, the following mornings we felt like we were rationed and were only given one slice of cheese and ham each (the bread rolls are also very small). I don't know if its just us being greedy but we didn't think we were given enough to fill up. On our last morning we were told that from now on breakfast will be served in the breakfast room. The breakfast room was really nice and you could go up and help yourself to as much as you liked so we only wish that we could have done this every morning. There was also a slightly wider selection.

Staff:
The staff were very friendly, polite, welcoming and helpful, particularly the guy that was on reception during the weekdays, I'm not sure of his name.

Location:
The hotel was in the perfect location for ourselves. It was right on the beach and was only a short 10 min boat ride to st marks.

We have just returned from a short break in Venice. We stayed in these apartments. The rooms are large and well equipped. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They even opened the breakfast room early for us on our departure day! Excellent value for money and would definately stay again. catching the water buses into central venice was part of the adventure. A 3 day bus/boat pass was an excellent buy and saved us lots of money.

We have booked this residence with Kitchen facilities as fancy of doing own cooking whilst our stay at Venice Lido island. Has to walk nearly 20 mins to reached here from jetty which is complicated if you do not know the way around. The room is huge and had all the necessary items we need, full equipped kitchen. However TV from 2 decades back, very aged. Should have at least HD version. The breakfast was superb and service was spot on. We booked via last minute.com and got a better deal than contacting hotel directly. We could not use the swimming pool, but it looks nice in the morning. Overall, I highly recommend this residence villa for future visitors.

We stayed here for a week in October.

CHECK IN: The hotel had contacted us and asked us when we would be arriving as the reception is not open 24 hours and although we were late, they waited on us arriving. Check in was smooth and the staff friendly.

ROOM: We had an upstairs room which had a roof terrace. Although it was October, many days were 'sunbathable' and it was nice to sit on. It had a light, table, 4 chairs, an umbrella and a sunlounger.

The room was very clean and a good size. It had a small kitchen area (we didn't use it ) and a TV - it wasn't the best TV and maybe they could buy new ones!! It was very venetian in style. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good.

GROUNDS: The hotel grounds are very nice and well maintained. The area around the pool was nice, clean and well kept. The pool closes at the end of October but we did see some children playing in it at that time of the year. It was quiet at this time of year but im sure it will be much busier in the summer.

LOCATION: We really liked it as we were close to the beach - 2 minutes across the road, 10 minutes walk to the vaparetto (Lido - Santa Maria Elizabetha) and 5 minutes to a number of bars/cafes/restaurants. It is much cheaper to stay/eat/drink on the Lido than in Venice and it only take 20 minutes between leaving the hotel and being at St Marks Square. You can also travel on the alilaguna boat from/to the airport.

Remember that there are a few boats that stop at the Lido. If you don't want to take the number 1 (from the top of the Grand Canal, all the way down to the Lido that takes over an hour), check the map and use another!!! The hotel also gave us a map and we got a map from the boat ticket office for 4 euro (I think).

This hotel will suit you particularly well if you have a family as the Lido is quieter and more friendly than central venice too.

If I return to Venice, Id stay here again.

Room Tip: get a room upstairs with the roof terrace.

Comfortable hotel with a nice environment; decent breakfast every morning, great communication, clean rooms.
Staff were even gentle enough to provide us with bikes to tour the island. All receptionists speak english. The only drawback is that hotel is not central but a place to relax after touring in Venice.

Have just arrived home after a week at La Ville del Lido. It thoroughly deserves all of the good reviews. The location was great. It's a short 10 minute walk from the vaporetti stop and an easy 10 minute 3 stops to St Marks Square on line 1. We rarely had to wait more than 5 minutes for a waterbus. It's so easy to make the short hop to Venice, we mostly went there and back twice a day. It was easy to find and a lovely quiet location. We were with three children -- two of them teenagers, in a two bedroom apartment with a kitchenette which which was very useful. We also had a shower room and en-suite bathroom. The sofa bed folded out to a decent comfortable double bed, and was easily folded away each day. The rooms were lovely and spacious a very clean. Our apartment was cleaned beautifully each day and all of the beds, including the sofa bed made. The staff were kind and helpful, and the breakfasts delicious with freshly baked croissants each morning which were particularly good. The pool was open all day when we were there, late October, early November. Our roof terrace had a view of the sea. The grounds are immaculate, established gardens and beautifully maintained. The Lido is a great place to stay. Great cafe's round the corner, supermarket, lovely leafy canals, bike rides and brilliant transport connections to Venice. I thoroughly recommend this hotel for families and will definately return.
